The Minnesota Wild are having a tough time on the road, losing yet another game. The Wild lost to the Colorado Avalanche in Denver on Sunday night 3 to 1. Josh Harding was in the goal for the Wild in place of an injured Niklas Backstrom. The Wild played solid defense, but just couldn’t get the puck moving on offense. Eric Belanger scored the lone Wild goal in the first period. It was the only blemish in a solid performance by Avalanch goalie Peter Budaj, who had 29 saves.
Perhaps what made a big difference in this game was that the Wild were missing two top offensive players, Marian Gaborik and Pavol Demitra, who sat out with groin injuries. Let’s hope this year isn’t a repeat of last year when Gaborik sat out 40+ games. It’s a proven fact that the Minnesota Wild team needs Gaborik on the ice to be ultra competitive – He does hold the franchise record for scoring! I know Minnesota Wild fans are holding their breath for his return. Come on Gaborik, pony up and ride with the big boys!
