Minnesota Wild Shutout in Detroit (12/7)

Wild 0, Red Wings 5

The Minnesota Wild were shut-out by the Detroit Red Wings in Detroit losing 5-zip. Wild goaltender Josh Harding made 29 saves, but even if he had made 34 saves, you have to score to win. Marian Gaborik had a breakaway that I thought should have warranted a goal, but the Detroit goalie came out of the crease and charged Gaborik sending Gabby tumbling to the ice. The Red Wings goalie got a penalty which he argued. I can see both sides of the argument, but is it really fair for the guy with all the big pads to come charging at you for a "check"?  Even if he wasn’t the goalie, I think there would have been a penalty on the hit, I thought tripping was a bit odd, but maybe more appropriate than roughing.

Henrik Zetterberg got a hat trick for the Red Wings and Jiri Hudler and Johan Franzen each added a goal to make it an official butt kicking. It’s no secret the Detroit Red Wings are the team to beat in the NHL and the Wild have got to figure out their game plan. Detroit will be in St Paul at the Xcel Energy Center on Saturday December 22nd and this MN Wild Freak will be looking forward to the rematch, let’s hope the Wild don’t let me down! Let’s go Wild!
