Notes

  • Marian Gaborik is still out with that lower body injury.
  • Third goalie Nolan Schaefer has been recalled from AHL Houston on an emergency basis. To make room, the Wild placed defenseman Tomas Mojzis on waivers, sources say.
  • Derek Boogaard, Craig Weller and Mojzis looked to be scratched.
  • Marc-Andre Fleury will not be in the lineup for the Penguins. Fleury is listed as day-to-day and a return date is unknown.
  • With Fleury out of the lineup, Dany Sabourin will make his first start at Mellon Arena against Minnesota. "We played a really good game last year against the Wild," Sabourin said. "It was really intense, like a playoff game. They trap, they crash the net hard and like to play behind the net. We have to be ready for that."
  • Grand Rapids' own Alex Goligoski is off to a hot start for the Pens, with 4 goals, 5 assists in 16 games on the blue line.
  • Pascal Dupuis will play against the Wild for the first time since the trade two seasons ago to the Rangers.
  • Mikko Koivu has a goal and assist in his last eight games, while MIttens has three assists in that span, although he scored the winning goal in Saturday's shootout.

Questions to Answer

  1. Can anyone contain the quick, young talent of the Penguins?
  2. Will Burns be up or back?
  3. Will the Wild try to skate with the Pens, or bottle them up? East v. West, which style will win?
  4. Will they stop Evgeni Malkin, who has a 13-game point and assist streak?
  5. Will Cal Clutterbuck pass out in his own vomit tonight, on this, his 21st birthday?

Ok folks, have a great night! I'll be out with the misses for our 8th anniversary, and will speak to you on the other side of the evening.

Did you read Bob McKenzie’s article?

Gaborik hasn’t played an NHL game since Oct. 14, the Wild’s second game of the season, sidelined with the mysterious "lower-body" ailment, which for the finely-tuned Slovakian speedster means he’s continuing to have issues with his musculature (quads, hamstrings, adductors, glutes, take your pick) somewhere above the knees but below the abdomen.

One would logically think being out that long, with no sign of him coming back to the Wild lineup in the immediate future, would be a major impediment, if not a total roadblock, to being traded at this time.

There’s no chance of trading him right now. Or worse, they’ll get raked over the coals if they try. He needs to get healthy, or else we’re looking at a Santana-like return on him.

But this Smells Like Gaborik Might be Faking this Injury…I Dont See how you do anything But Roll your Ankle Playing Hackey Sack, which is how he got hurt….If thats the case, just release his ass.

It just annoys me when fans give that whole, “My team is better and there’s no convincing me otherwise” approach. Why can’t you just talk about it? Why can’t you try and engage in intelligent conversation? This sort of conversation/argument often has the other person saying “whatever” and “yeah right” more than a few times because they don’t know what else to say.

nobody wants him. One of the worst rumors I heard this year came out of Edmonton saying the “Penguins are considering Marian Gaborik in exchange for Evgeni Malkin.” Right. Nevermind the fact Malkin signed an extension over the summer, finished at the top of the league as is nowhere near as fragile as Gaborik. But sure, that makes sense.

I Laughed When i heard it

The Wild would have to Give up atleast Gaborik..a 1st round draft choice and a Guy like James Sheppard just to get Pittsburgh to Think about the Trade….I think the Rumors of Gaborik to Montreal or New York have steam…

by Tony_O on Nov 18, 2008 7:46 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t think the Rangers have the cap space for it. They are still involved in every mention of Mats Sundin’s name, and I don’t think they can even afford him if they wanted to.

Just because the Wild beat them? Two hot teams come in, one leaves with the W, and the other is overrated?
