Tonight's lines:
|
Minnesota Wild |
Pittsburgh Penguins |
|
Nolan - Koivu - Bouchard Reitz - Schultz Harding |
Talbot-Crosby-Satan Orpik-Letang Sabourin |
Notes
- Marian Gaborik is still out with that lower body injury.
- Third goalie Nolan Schaefer has been recalled from AHL Houston on an emergency basis. To make room, the Wild placed defenseman Tomas Mojzis on waivers, sources say.
- Derek Boogaard, Craig Weller and Mojzis looked to be scratched.
- Marc-Andre Fleury will not be in the lineup for the Penguins. Fleury is listed as day-to-day and a return date is unknown.
- With Fleury out of the lineup, Dany Sabourin will make his first start at Mellon Arena against Minnesota. "We played a really good game last year against the Wild," Sabourin said. "It was really intense, like a playoff game. They trap, they crash the net hard and like to play behind the net. We have to be ready for that."
- Grand Rapids' own Alex Goligoski is off to a hot start for the Pens, with 4 goals, 5 assists in 16 games on the blue line.
- Pascal Dupuis will play against the Wild for the first time since the trade two seasons ago to the Rangers.
- Mikko Koivu has a goal and assist in his last eight games, while MIttens has three assists in that span, although he scored the winning goal in Saturday's shootout.
Questions to Answer
- Can anyone contain the quick, young talent of the Penguins?
- Will Burns be up or back?
- Will the Wild try to skate with the Pens, or bottle them up? East v. West, which style will win?
- Will they stop Evgeni Malkin, who has a 13-game point and assist streak?
- Will Cal Clutterbuck pass out in his own vomit tonight, on this, his 21st birthday?
Ok folks, have a great night! I'll be out with the misses for our 8th anniversary, and will speak to you on the other side of the evening.

Lets Get the Win on National TV....
MAF is out. Lets Get to Danny Sabourin Early…
PS…MARIAN GABORIK is a Fuckin Pussy…Complete Wussbag, Trade Him ASAP, Unless you have a broken leg or a Broken Knee or Ankle or Torn Quadricep…Your Not out This Long With a Lower Body Injury…Please Please Please get that Pussy off the wild soon Risebrough.
Did you read Bob McKenzie’s article?
Gaborik hasn’t played an NHL game since Oct. 14, the Wild’s second game of the season, sidelined with the mysterious "lower-body" ailment, which for the finely-tuned Slovakian speedster means he’s continuing to have issues with his musculature (quads, hamstrings, adductors, glutes, take your pick) somewhere above the knees but below the abdomen.
One would logically think being out that long, with no sign of him coming back to the Wild lineup in the immediate future, would be a major impediment, if not a total roadblock, to being traded at this time.
There’s no chance of trading him right now. Or worse, they’ll get raked over the coals if they try. He needs to get healthy, or else we’re looking at a Santana-like return on him.
Call Me Crazy
But this Smells Like Gaborik Might be Faking this Injury…I Dont See how you do anything But Roll your Ankle Playing Hackey Sack, which is how he got hurt….If thats the case, just release his ass.
He was impressive in Nashville and has been awesome for the Wild. Nice offseason pick up

Nah, Staal put the shot on but Cooke got the rebound shot. So I guess Staal got the assist.

Yeah, crappy bounce. Nothing you can do about that except get it back on the other end.

Your dude just milked that penalty. Letang should’ve let go of his stick

Good movement. Still kicking myself for that bad goal past Sabu but nothing you can do. I wanna see the Pens take a lead and make Minnesota play their game.

Good game
Took awhile for them to find their legs, but seem to be in it now.

Where'd he go
Frank… I wonder where BiB went over on your blog. I was kind of hoping for a definition of trap from him…

Penguins’ arch nemeses are the Flyers and Rangers. It’s hard to get them to develop rational thought

It just annoys me when fans give that whole, “My team is better and there’s no convincing me otherwise” approach. Why can’t you just talk about it? Why can’t you try and engage in intelligent conversation? This sort of conversation/argument often has the other person saying “whatever” and “yeah right” more than a few times because they don’t know what else to say.

Wow – Staal never fights. That’s only like his second career fight.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
But where were Reitz’ punches? As miserable as it was, and not to sound like a homer, but Staal won the cat fight.

The second period might belong to the Wild but the Pens are notorious for their third period play. This could get interesting soon.

Knowing him he’ll be back in the third and score a goal or two :-)

I agree. Backstrom is the real deal and keeping you guys in this one. The Pens have had way more chances but Wild’s chances were quality over quantity.

Agreed.....Its Really Amazing
How we are staying in games with the Top Squads in the League with who we have in Uniform, you look at our roster and you cant find a real play maker on the Roster that isnt a Total Pussy COUGH MARIAN GABORIK COUGH

nobody wants him. One of the worst rumors I heard this year came out of Edmonton saying the “Penguins are considering Marian Gaborik in exchange for Evgeni Malkin.” Right. Nevermind the fact Malkin signed an extension over the summer, finished at the top of the league as is nowhere near as fragile as Gaborik. But sure, that makes sense.

I Laughed When i heard it
The Wild would have to Give up atleast Gaborik..a 1st round draft choice and a Guy like James Sheppard just to get Pittsburgh to Think about the Trade….I think the Rumors of Gaborik to Montreal or New York have steam…
I don’t think the Rangers have the cap space for it. They are still involved in every mention of Mats Sundin’s name, and I don’t think they can even afford him if they wanted to.

Kevin Gorg (FSN Wild Anchor) just said on Local Sports Talk Radio
Just Said there is Rumors of a Gaborik to Ottawa for Jason Spezza or Danny Heatley Trade……….
Highly underrated it seems. No worries though. Fleury went two whole years as an underrated goalie and finally earned worthy respect after the SCF this past season. Then he also earned a nice fat contract.

They’re big sellers. The Pens just debuted them again this season Saturday night against the Sabres. They make another nine appearances this season.

The Wild are in This still....Amazingly
One of the Better Teams in the League are the Penguins. Just Shows how Deep we are in terms of Talent
eesh. That was as obvious a penalty as there could be. I know they normally get away with some in OT but that’s brutal.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Wow.
This in un-f’ing believable. Going to be a brutal shoot out. Malkin, Crosby, Satan, Staal…

I don’t know why the Pens gave the chance to Goligoski. He’s not exactly lights out
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
make that 6-0-1…but yeah, I’ll take a point over a loss any night
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Overrated?
Just because the Wild beat them? Two hot teams come in, one leaves with the W, and the other is overrated?
Hmmm… I see a lack of logic here somewhere.
