What kills me there is that it’s not uncommon for that to be a tradition in locker rooms. I’m shocked that a) he didn’t know that and b) he thought it was a big deal.

You’re totally right. Every team, to some capacity, has a tradition like that. I’m sure the Penguins’ locker room isn’t the first one he’s encountered that asked that of him.
