Tonight's lines:

NOTES:

  • Minnesota was within one point of the lead in the Northwest Division at the end of November, but a 3-9-1 slide this month has dropped it into last place.
  • The Wild has been outscored 23-11 going 0-6-2 in the last 8 vs. San Jose. In those 8, Evgeni Nabokov posted a 1.35 gaa.
  • The Sharks have just one regulation loss in their last 20 games, going 15-1-4 since a 4-2 defeat at Phoenix on Nov. 9.
  • Owen Nolan, who is definitely not ready to play, asked Jacques to play.

Questions to Answer

  1. Is Russo right? Should they just tank the rest of the season?
  2. Will the boo birds return?
  3. Why are they playing at 5:00?
  4. Will the Wild amass more than 20 shots?
  5. Do Lemaire and Risebrough care?

Ok

I love that horse logo. I’m going to have a hard time not using it.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 2:13 PM CST up reply actions

Just pretend you didn’t see it.

by senor_k on Dec 31, 2008 2:14 PM CST up reply actions

Hmm

Why does the new shark look like an F-117A?

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 2:17 PM CST up reply actions

I’m sorry for posting the images directly, it was inappropriate (especially given their size). I should have just put up links.

Anyway, happy new year to you all. I hope it’s a good game today!

by senor_k on Dec 31, 2008 2:54 PM CST up reply actions

Oh dude

Dont’ sweat it. I have absolutely no problems with the images. Frankly, it spices up the thread. Don’t be a stranger.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 2:57 PM CST up reply actions

That rush says everything about this season. Sheppard made the moves, got Nabakov out of position, centered & nobody could finish.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 5:13 PM CST reply actions

How?

How on earth did the Gophers score? I turned it off as soon as Kansas got the first TD on the first play. I predict that the football team loses by more than the basketball team did.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 5:17 PM CST up reply actions

Weber Takes the Snap

Pitches it to QB David Pittman…Hasnt taken a snap all year…Passes To Decker for 73 yards…Eskridge Rushing TD.

by Tony_O on Dec 31, 2008 5:18 PM CST up reply actions

Ahh

Inventiveness. That’s nice to finally see.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 5:19 PM CST up reply actions

Did i just see what i think i saw

Claude Fricken Lemeiux is trying to make a comeback?

by Tony_O on Dec 31, 2008 5:19 PM CST reply actions

Oh yeah

He had a 10-day tryout a few weeks ago, and signed a 2-way deal this week

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 5:20 PM CST up reply actions

Dang.....Thought he was older

Hell if it can work…might as well give it the old college try.

by Tony_O on Dec 31, 2008 5:24 PM CST up reply actions

Wild PP

Alexei Semenov off for cross-checking Boogaard.

Is it just me

Or is this game moving really rapidly? Great pace, not a lot of stoppages. I’m loving this.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 5:30 PM CST reply actions

Hmm

I will not get sucked in. I will not get sucked in. I will not get sucked in.

TD Jayhawks

and we are tied at 14 in Tempe Arizona.

by Tony_O on Dec 31, 2008 5:46 PM CST reply actions

What time?

I’m probably going to flip back and forth between that and the Schwans Cup coverage on FSN.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 5:48 PM CST up reply actions

That will be great to hear for three hours about hockey is back in Chicago. It makes me wish Dollar Bill never died.

by HockeyJoe on Dec 31, 2008 5:50 PM CST up reply actions

Well

Let’s hope the Hawks lose badly and collapse miserably.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 5:53 PM CST up reply actions

I’d enjoy that. That said, Lidstrom is playing despite a bum ankle and Chelios is playing as well despite, uh, not playing much if at all this season. 7 D, 11F. Chelios will likely be helping Lidstrom carry his minutes though since we know he’s not 100%.

It’s just convenient that Chelios made a living in Chicago for a long time and sang with Harry Caray more than a few times too. Wonder if any of the n00b fans will remember him.

by HockeyJoe on Dec 31, 2008 5:58 PM CST up reply actions

Noon here?

I’ll probably watch then.

Should we post the live blog? It’ll be shared with Puck Daddy, From the Rink and other SBN sites.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 5:53 PM CST up reply actions

Boogaard is destroying Jody Shelley. Bloodied him and knocked out teeth.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:00 PM CST reply actions

Yeah

I think it’s the 8th time they’ve faught.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:02 PM CST up reply actions

Ouch

Sounds like Boogaard broke Shelley’s helmet. They’re talking about a crack and he had a new one sent across the rink.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:03 PM CST reply actions

Could we win this game?

up 1-0 midway through the 2nd…Stay Tuned…

by Tony_O on Dec 31, 2008 6:15 PM CST reply actions

Ok

We’re in for tomorrow’s Winter Classic. Stop by here tomorrow and participate in the Winter Classic Live Blog along with readers and authors from: From the Rink, Puck Daddy, Winging it in Motown, Second City Hockey and others. We’re very excited about this.

If We had the Winter Classic

Where would you want to play it and who would you want to play?

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:37 PM CST reply actions

Well the only two choices

TCF Bank Stadium and The Twins New Ballpark when they open and I would like to Play Calgary…Get the Whole USA-Canada Rivalry Going.

by Tony_O on Dec 31, 2008 6:41 PM CST up reply actions

New Minnesota football stadium against the Stars might be a good fit.

by HockeyJoe on Dec 31, 2008 6:42 PM CST up reply actions

That was my original thought

But then I decided screw it. Put em on Baudette Bay against the Avs.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:43 PM CST up reply actions

Could you really Have Baudette Bay Hold That Many People?

Wouldnt happen…would have to happen at a stadium so the NHL can make Money.

by Tony_O on Dec 31, 2008 6:45 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah

That was my “screw it” moment. Screw the money. Sell 5,000 tickets at $1000/ticket and you’ll get some decent cash.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:47 PM CST up reply actions

That would be sweet

the whole Former Squad vs New Squad Rivalry.

by Tony_O on Dec 31, 2008 6:43 PM CST up reply actions

USA 1-0 Canada. Good to see so many college kids on the team. Jordan Schroeder is having a great tourney!

by Tony_O on Dec 31, 2008 6:47 PM CST reply actions

Another Canada penalty. US on the 2-man advantage for a few seconds.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:47 PM CST reply actions

Yet another Canada penatly. Blatant cheapshot around the net

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:48 PM CST reply actions

Nice save by the GIANT goalie for Canada. There is no way that kid’s pads are legal. Good lord.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:49 PM CST reply actions

Man

These Canadians have no control over their emotions.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:53 PM CST reply actions

True

And Quinn looks like he doesn’t give a tiny rats ass.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 6:57 PM CST up reply actions

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 7:00 PM CST up reply actions

Tavares scores

And calls for the fans to get louder while skating in front of the US bench. Class.

by HockeyJoe on Dec 31, 2008 7:04 PM CST reply actions

Nothing but class those little primadonnas.

by nathaneide on Dec 31, 2008 7:05 PM CST up reply actions

by Tony_O on Dec 31, 2008 7:13 PM CST reply actions
