International Ice Hockey Tournament, Russia gets the Gold

The Minnesota Wild was well represented in the International Ice Hockey Federation tournament. Both Mikko Koivu and Niklas Backstrom played for the Finland (Finnish) team and Brent Burns played for the second place Canadian team.  The Russia team won the gold and Alex Ovechkin is quoted as saying,

"This gold medal is the biggest thing that’s ever happened to me."

Bigger than beating the Minnesota Wild 4-1 on national TV? Oh yeah, Alex didn’t score, he was in a drought.

IIHF Tournament Results: (last year)

  1.  RUSSIA  (3rd)
  1. CANADA (1st)
  1. FINLAND (2nd)
  1. UNITED STATES (5th)
