can someone fill me in on this Marek Zidlicky guy we got from Nashville. I gotta say, I did not watch too many Predators games last year

We traded Ryan Jones. Apparently we was a minor leaguer, was he any good? He must of been if another team wanted him.

Sorry for my ignorance, I'm relatively new when it comes to following hockey hardcore. I like to watch the game, I really did not follow it closely until last year

Zidlicky will defend

Marek Zidlicky is a 31 year old defenseman. He is part of the Wilds plan to play better defense next year (although, I don’t think defense is the main problem – we need to score more). I find Zidlicky a curious selection for the Minnesota Wild roster. He’s not cheap ($3.5 million a season) and he isn’t the tough guy we will need to replace Voros and Fedoruk so I am not sure what the underlying motivation was to sign this guy except that he can move the puck well – he did have 38 assists last year.

Ryan Jones isn’t going to be the next Sidney Crosby or anything so it’s no big deal to lose him as long as Zidlicky performs THIS year. We need players on the ice that want to win a championship THIS year and not just keep building a team for the future with prospects.
