Questions to Answer
- Will the Wild build on a solid 3rd period?
- Will Martin Havlat continue to be an assist machine?
- Can the Wild get the Kings monkey off their back (0-4 last season against L.A.)
- Does Josh Harding begin showcasing himself tonight?
- Can they kick off the West Coast Swing with a win?

Anybody tuning in tonight?
I’ve got to be honest—I’m still kind of spent from Tuesday’s comeback double-header…
Go Wild!
Kind of my first game of the year.
Opening night I was just watching out of the corner of my eye, and Tuesday I was too drained from the Twins. Looking forward to actually concentrating on the game tonight.
I take it back
I think I’m done with tonight’s game.

And all 350 are thrilled when the Kings score 1:07 into the game. Hayzoos tap-dancing Chrysler.

Answer to Question 4 is...
hell no. Nice for Richards to give him a try against a crap team…but maybe he shouldn’t be out there for the 2nd & 3rd period.
I'm looking for the chicken and the rice. Please for you give me the chicken then you come with the rice or then you give me the rice and the chicken, I don't care.
I don't think the Kings are that bad of a team
At least not as bad as they have been—there is a lot going in the right direction, IMHO.
However, I agree on the goalie call. Regardless of who the Wild take the ice against, they are going to need Backstrom to keep it close—especially in the early going with the new system and all
Not a great first period of regular season play for Hards
Of course, not a lot can be said for the rest of the team, either.
Wow, the Kings almost get another one there at the end. Only down 3, I guess it could have been worse?
I really do not understand anything.
What kind of aggressive team doesn’t score at all in the first two periods?
Well ...
I know we’re definitely “more aggressive” than when we had Lemaire, but are we actually now considered an “aggressive team”?
Good point.
Then let me rephrase that.
What’s the point of being more aggressive than you were before if you don’t score?
Thanks..I have FSN North HD hahaha
But Thanks anyway ha
Glad to see road games in HD this year. It appears the San Jose game on Saturday will be in HD too! :)
Yeah its about time eh
most road games were in standard definition last year ha
hopfully the first of many
pass from no. 15 to no. 14 and GOAL
I'm looking for the chicken and the rice. Please for you give me the chicken then you come with the rice or then you give me the rice and the chicken, I don't care.
Glad to see Hards back out there
It might seem like Richards is “giving up” points, but you learn the most from your failures.
It’s early in the season. This team is a work in progress this year. I’m going to reserve judgement for 18-20 months or so.
They are getting some better shots to start, anyway! Looks like a PP coming up. AND HAVLAT SCORES!
Puck handling
The Kings have been forcing turnovers all game and winning puck possession. You can’t score when you don’t have control of the puck.
I think I’ve found my new favorite defenseman to rag on. After Skoula and Bergeron left, I was afraid there would be only Zidlicky.
like him all you want but...
Skoula and Johnsson are equally talented at turning their mistakes into goals for opponents.
I'm looking for the chicken and the rice. Please for you give me the chicken then you come with the rice or then you give me the rice and the chicken, I don't care.
Heh.. new strategy
Keep drawing penalties so we can just keep scoring on the power play.
Hopefully Clutterbuck can come up with clever things to say about Smyth’s sister.
Following Russo on Twitter
Not that I should be surprised, but how much Poo is Pouliot made of tonight?
As for Marian and Jacques...Guys Give Richards and Company Time
Everybody on this team except for the new guys are trying to learn the offensive style of play after being in the defensive style of Lemaire for soo long…they will have growing pains..just gotta give them a chance to learn
IMHO
That is the problem—stuck between the new system what has been engraved in you for 8+ or whatever years. Richards was quoted saying as much; emphasizing especially when the players are tired.
Two Wild without sticks on the ice at once...
for about 5 seconds, but COME ON
If We had Kept Marian..There would be No Havlat,Sykora, Zanon ETC...This team would be alot worse off than they are had we kept Gabby
His time here was done anyway..he didn’t want to be here.
He can be a great player..
however, he’s not really a good locker room guy, and definitely not a good value at 7.5m x 5years.
I loved Gabby, too
Absolutely insane to watch—when he could or WANTED to play.
Truth: by him not accepting the offer before last season started, we now have room to work in the cap. There would be none of those players listed above (and maybe not the Backstrom contract, maybe) and little ability to do anything else. Then IF he gets hurt again. Ouch.
Great player, loved by the fans, but probably better for the organization in the long run he is gone.
That's because
It’s Johnsson

Well this is a shit game
It’ll be interesting to see how much patience people have for the new system. Already a very angry fanbase online. Sellout streak will be over by December at this rate

The Economy
Unfortunately, will end the sell out streak first. I usually am able to sell 7-10 games to friends and family—just to be nice—but nothing this year. We were able to sell 2 games.
As far as patience, I’m in. Especially in game 3. I’ve promised not to be negative [about the system, at least—individual mistakes are still in play] until mid next year.
We’re seeing flashes of improvement—when that stops altogether, we can talk again.
Patience
I have patience, but they need to show steps, signs of improvement and consistency. Without that, and if they keep making the same mistakes, or worse, don’t get the offense and play poor positional defense, many fans will give up

Damn, Koviu! That was close. Keep up the pressure!
That was close. No PPG there. Maybe a 5×5 just for fun? ;-)
I’ll hang in to watch how the 3rd goes—at least as long as the goal differential is 2 or 3 :) As far as computing goes, however, I’m out. Have a great night, everybody. Cheers!
Go Wild!
Argh
How does Bruno not score there

Wild starting to play with a little more spunk
and plenty of time left. Lets go Harding, stay solid.
5-3 Kings
Time for Richards to remind these morons how to backcheck. This is ridiculous. Oh, ad Harding is brutal today

Yeah you do
My Gaborik and Rolston shirts have both been retired.
Do not like
This team is not good enough to forecheck 2
guys. They’re getting beaten back up the
ice time and again. Not impressed

At least the Pens got shut out by the Yotes
so this isnt the most embarrassing thing to happen to a team so far this year
Wild outshooting Kings 24-22
Guess that means the defense/goaltending sucks donkey balls

i would have to agree
i’m watching this game, when LA is on defense, they are closing on the puck no matter where it is and who has it, at least 70% of the Wilds passes/shots are being blocked/deflected. When the Wild are on defense, its a lot of standing and waiting even looking like theyre out of position
Agreed
And that is the de-emphasis on defense

Stupid decisions
Richards said he wants to give more playing time to Harding. Great way to get value for your $24m man, right?
