Hockey Wilderness in the Blog Madness Tournament

Hey guys;

I'm participating in the Sports2Debate Blog Madness Tournament. My first round opponent is The Program.

The Program VS.  Hockey Wilderness

-What is the greatest moment in the history of hockey?

-Why is this moment the greatest, and greater than your opponents choice?

-Use facts, figures, and examples to prove your point.

  • The Debate starts: March 17 @ 2:00 p.m. EST
  • Voting starts: March 20, 2:00 p.m. EST
  • Debate/Voting ends: March 21, 2:00 p.m. EST
  • The Winner will be voted on by S2D members after this debate is over, Sign up here to vote!!

I've taken the position of the 1972 Summit Series, whereas my opponent went with the Miracle on Ice.

In order to move on, I need all the votes I can muster. Check out the Blog Madness Tournament.

EDIT: I need your votes! I rest my case this morning!

Don't have time for a detailed post

but my vote is for the Gifting of the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup by Lord Stanley to canada in 1892. The since renamed Lord Stanley’s Cup is the most storied, unique, and hardest to win Trophy in all of Sportsdom.

Damn it

You had me all worked up, ready to stuff the ballot box, using my web based code widget to vote thousands of times for you. I got it from that guy who screwed up the all-star voting.

OK, I don;t really have a cool web based code widget to vote for you. But if any one out there in the Wilderness has one, share the love, will ya?

Theoretically, one team could play 28 games in the post-season. 28 games of hard-hitting, intense playoff action. It is far and away the most intense of the playoffs in sports.

However, the argument can be made that the World Series is the hardest to win, considering that until recently only 4 of 28 teams had the opportunity to go to the post season. Even now with 8 teams in the post-season, MLB is the hardest post-season into which one can gain entry. Conversely, there is no salary cap in baseball, and the playing field isn’t nearly as level as it is in hockey.
