Wild's GM not tipping trade hand
Doug Risebrough said his motivation is not to trade goaltender Niklas Backstrom as Wednesday's trade deadline approaches, but the Wild general manager quickly added that he doesn't "want to be hung with that."
"How can I begin to think I'm going to compete for a playoff spot by trading Backstrom?" Risebrough said. "Now, that's showing you my motivation. I don't know what somebody else's motivation is. To say 'never' is illogical, and I don't want to be hung with that because I don't know what somebody might offer me.
"If somebody says, 'I really want to overpay,' well, then what do I do? Now they put me in a dilemma. But I've told you my motivation."
Asked if that includes Marian Gaborik, whom Risebrough also says he'd prefer to hold onto, he answered, "Both."

here's a trade proposal
here’s a trade proposal thrown up by Allan Muir of SI.com
Buffalo sends Maxim Afinogenov to Minnesota for his weight in fresh walleye
It’s not being impolite to suggest that Afinogenov is the NHL’s version of a toxic asset. There aren’t many players who get less in the way of results out of more talent. Still, the Wild are desperate for scoring touch, and given how plentiful walleye are in the state’s waters, this is surely a price they can afford to pay.
lets do it!
