What We Learned: Priceless advice for the playoff desperate - Puck Daddy - NHL - Yahoo! Sports
Minnesota Wild: It's easy to forget, but Marian Gaborik is unbelievable.
If he were healthy all the time, people would talk about him like they do Alexander Ovechkin or Evgeni Malkin or Sidney Crosby. He's that good. He's played 14 games this year and only the last few have been while he was healthy. He still has 10 goals and 15 points. Since he came back from his latest injury on March 22, he's netted 8-3-11 in eight games, including a goal against Detroit yesterday. This despite his most frequent linemates being James Sheppard (21 points in 78 games) and Stephane Veilleux (22 points in 77 games) up until a few games ago.
Whoever signs him next year (not Minnesota!) is going to get a ridiculously talented player, probably at below market value. I legitimately feel bad that he can't stay healthy. A guy like him playing 75 or 80 games a year would be awesome for whatever market he's in.

Day late, Dollar short
If Marion Gaborik stayed healthy he would be incredible. That said, being 6’5" if I had sub 4.2 speed and great hands, I would be an incredible NFL reciever. I don’t and I’m not. He doesn’t, and he’s not. He collected a salary and what did he give in return? NOTHING. Ten meaningless goals. He would have done more for this team to not come back at all. His free agency audition is costing the young players of the Wild ice time. Good ridence to him and his defficiant manhood.

I'm still not buying
As much as I believe is is an amazing talent, I still do not see in him the talents of Malkin, Crosby, or Ovechkin. He just does not have the abilities the other guys do. He can score, no doubt to that. I just don’t see him as an elite player.
I am running out of reasons to justify my belief, and am fully willing to admit it has everything to do with his attitude earlier this season, and during the contract talks. Screw him. I wouldn’t care if he was Ovechkin. Give the attitude he gave, and I wouldn’t want him around. I hope he goes out and signs his huge contract and whatever team lands him ends up failing miserably.
Completely out of spite, yes.

Frankly
I’m siding more and more with Gaborik and against Lynn and Risebrough. The more I hear through the grapevine of how they deal with players, agents and staff, the less respect I have for this organization and the more I excuse players for not wanting to play here for those two.

Re-sign him
Marian Gaborik should be re-signed. If we don’t re-sign him, we’ll lose him for nothing, and set the organization back a few years.

You don't think they are already?
The Wild have been set back five years at least, with or without Gaborik.
In order to progress, they need help from below, and there is none. Time to move on, time to start over. He will NOT sign here. He made that clear. I hate DR and Lynn as much as anyone. They need to go too.
Time to start all over. New GM, AGMs, coach, Assitant coaches (sorry Rammer), and new talent. Everyone is on the block. Everyone. Make an offer.

Gabby
Gaborik has shown some unbelievable talent at times. I can’t remember who the game was against, but it was this year. He lifted the defensemans stick and shot the puck in all with one nice little move.
On the other hand he is less than adequate on the break away. Fast, yes. Maybe if he played a few more game he’d be better at it.
Sign him, don’t sign him. We’re screwed either way. Everything is run a muck. We haven’t even made a real statement by being in the playoffs year after year and we’re already talking about having to rebuild. It is absolutely pathetic.
I probably don’t have quite the channels, but I heard a long time ago about the cold shoulder upstairs. There must be some reason why players really don’t want to come here.
