Pierre McGuire as GM is a Wild idea
From Damien Cox at the Toronto Star:
The Minnesota Wild might view Pierre McGuire as the next John Davidson.
That would be good for McGuire.
Or, the Wild might see less Davidson, and more Barry Melrose.
Not so good.
What we know for sure is that McGuire, as well-known a hockey broadcaster as there is in this country outside of Don Cherry, is on the short list to become the next general manager of the Wild, succeeding the departed Doug Risebrough.
What's not clear is where McGuire, who is expected to be interviewed today or tomorrow by Minnesota owner Craig Leipold, rates on a list that is believed to include Pat Quinn, Chuck Fletcher, player agent Neil Sheehy and others. Former Maple Leaf GM John Ferguson is also expected to be interviewed.
It's the first big executive opening of the off-season, which now includes 22 non-active squads, and so is a window into what the thinking is in the business these days.

I see this as a win for hockey fans everywhere (except Wild fans) as we would no longer have to listen to Pierre's analysis.
The opinions posted here are not those of Hockey Wilderness
