2009 NHL Draft Live Blog

Okay all, it's finally time. We're assuming it's John Tavares, Victor Hedman then the rest. But the real question will be ... who do the Wild take, and how many trades are forthcoming?

Here's what we're watching:

  • Do the Wild move Josh Harding, James Sheppard, Tyler Cuma or others?
  • Where do the Minnesotans go?
  • Do Fletcher and Richards want to go for guys who are ready to play now, or stockpile for the future?
  • How close will the SBN NHL Mock Draft be?
  • Is Dany Heatley moved?

Versus is carrying the TSN feed, so have at it!

By the way, track all of the action on the SBN NHL Draft Hub.

RT @russosrtib – Scuttlebutt is Duchene goes 1 to Isles, meaning Hedman goes 2 to Tampa and the Colorado Avalanche – rivals Avs – luck into Tavares at 3 #nhl

Speculation time

I wonder what the scouts know about Schroeder for him to keep slipping down in the draft?

by SpaethCo on Jun 26, 2009 8:44 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Boy I'd hate to see...

Schroeder go to Flamers… not sure if they need a forward

Fletcher = Fail

by nathaneide on Jun 26, 2009 8:47 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

How much of this falls on Fletcher, and how much on Tommy Thompson?

by SpaethCo on Jun 26, 2009 8:48 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It's ultimately Fletcher's decision.

Shit

Watch Schroeder fall to the Canucks.

Of course, New Jersey is trying to move up and get the Flames pick. They want to pair Schroeder and Parise.

Brutally stupid

Why? Why do teams always give the Ducks so many damn picks?

I don't have the slightest idea

But they can make the moves, can’t they?

Is it just me...

Or did we get worse picks for 12 than the Ducks got for 21?

by San Diego Viking on Jun 26, 2009 8:59 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

To be fair, we got 2 additional picks instead of just 1…. although they are late.

If Leddy is who we were shooting for

Why didn’t we trade down again and get more picks?

by SpaethCo on Jun 26, 2009 9:25 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

That's my thought

But he should have just taken the freaking scorer. Or John Moore. Moore’s better than Leddy.

I agree

Leddy wasn’t going to go in the 1st..Highly doubt he wen’t early in the second..if would could have trade down and gotten a 2nd rounder..Leddy would have probably been their in the 2nd round and we could have Drafted Schroeder

2 words: power forward

The frustrating part of our pick is that I don’t think D-men our anywhere near the top of our list of needs.

I guess at least we didn’t pick a damn goaltender.

My #1 choice would have been a power forward

But with Kassian gone, you move on the Schroeder.
