2009 NHL Draft Live Blog
Okay all, it's finally time. We're assuming it's John Tavares, Victor Hedman then the rest. But the real question will be ... who do the Wild take, and how many trades are forthcoming?
Here's what we're watching:
- Do the Wild move Josh Harding, James Sheppard, Tyler Cuma or others?
- Where do the Minnesotans go?
- Do Fletcher and Richards want to go for guys who are ready to play now, or stockpile for the future?
- How close will the SBN NHL Mock Draft be?
- Is Dany Heatley moved?
Versus is carrying the TSN feed, so have at it!
By the way, track all of the action on the SBN NHL Draft Hub.

Russo's Latest Tweet...
RussostribFor second time, I’m watching Fletcher and Pitt GM/old boss Ray Shero have a serious conversation; not talking about old times, family #nhl
RT @russosrtib – Scuttlebutt is Duchene goes 1 to Isles, meaning Hedman goes 2 to Tampa and the Colorado Avalanche – rivals Avs – luck into Tavares at 3 #nhl

Russo's Twitter"
Russostrib Wild has couple possibilities still for trades, I am told, but will depend on what 2 teams do after draft starts; “decision on fly”
Hmm
Thinking maybe he hated Lemaire that much?
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
Wild in play for a Veteran???
RussostribChuck Fletcher now huddling with Director of Pro Scouting Blair MacKasey. Blair has one function at this Draft, and it ain’t amateurs
And the isles are on the clock

what's the over under
on us trading down for extra picks, trading harding for picks and players, trading the rights to gabby?
Will the Real Thor Please Stand Up ... ?
That's what I would do
Move down to the mid 20s and get Budish.
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.

I’d like to congratulate the Penguins, the National Hockey League on a great year, Chicago on the winter classic, the Red Wings on being an amazing organization. I’d like to thank the Canadiens, the city of Montreal, all the scouts, our front office staff, the people who brought the snacks and water…
JUST SHUT UP AND PICK GOD DAMN IT!

Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
My pick for the Wild...
Who I think they take:
Nazem Kadri
Who i took in the mock draft:
Louis LeBlanc
Attack me…. NOW.
http://www.hockeywilderness.com
I don't like Kadri, LeBlanc would be ok
But I’d rather have Kassian or trade down for Budish
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
I'm OK with that
I want my pick to be right, but if they trade down, I am off the hook, right?
http://www.hockeywilderness.com
And Kane goes to Atlanta.
Smart move. Might be able to promote diversity in the ATL

Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
Call me crazy, but that's WAY too high.
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
So
I’m guessing Ottawa takes Ellis, could this mean MPS and Schroeder slide down?
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
This is great
Three picks left. I would kill for either MPS or Schroeder.
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.

Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
Nashville on the board
If they don’t take Jordan Schroeder, I’d be surprised
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
If they do, and we can't move down, need to take Kassian I think.
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
Don't think the Preds will take Kreider
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
I wish we would've thought of that.
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.

Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
Do.Not.Like
What the fuck was that pick??
Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
Why trade up?
He was still going to be around in 16…
Although, I do like that we’re getting 2 prospects out of it. We need a couple guys of this group to become players, so hopefully our scouts have some good picks for the later rounds.
gonna be a tough wait...
during the next coupla picks… I think we still get Schroeder
by San Diego Viking on Jun 26, 2009 7:55 PM CDT reply actions
I like dropping down to #16
I think Schroeder could still be their..Plus we amassed more picks and Fletcher has said we are going to rebuild from within…I might be the only one.
Unbelievably stupid pick

Proprietor of Hockey Wilderness - We take Minnesota hockey WAY too seriously.
2 words: power forward
The frustrating part of our pick is that I don’t think D-men our anywhere near the top of our list of needs.
I guess at least we didn’t pick a damn goaltender.
My #1 choice would have been a power forward
But with Kassian gone, you move on the Schroeder.
