Blues fan needs help from the Wilderness
My spring break starts March 13th and lasts a week and change.. During this trip I was hopin to catch a Blues game on the road somewhere and take a little roadtrip.. The only chance I would probably have is the game on the 15th vs the Wild.. and of course that is the tail end of a month at home with no hockey.. which doesnt bother me as much as it did when schedules come out since we suck at home this year
The only problems with this is im only 18 and my parents are pretty likely to laugh at me if i ask them if i can make the drive up there.. they are strict and im a lazy shit so not a good combination.. So my first question is if anybody has any good arguments that i can use to help my case on going up there that would be awesome
And on the off chance that they do allow me to go I dont know the St Paul area very well.. or at all.. so if any knows of any good places to stay i could really use that information to show my parents that ive got everything planned out and everything in the hopes that theyll let me go.. i would like to stay as close to the Xcel Center as possible so i could just walk to the game if possible
Thanks for the help guys and hopefully ill be able to make the trip to St Paul in March and maybe meet some of you guys there

where to stay and arguments for parents
There is a Holiday Inn right across the street from the X. Plenty of places to eat near by.
Tell your parents that you want to experience the game in The State of Hockey. People say that MN fans really know the game and being part of that crowd is different than watching hockey in other places.
The Xcel Energy Center is supposed to be one of the best venues to watch hockey – other arenas have been patterned after it.
I’m assuming you’re a high school senior? Tell them a bunch of your friends are taking a senior trip to Mexico…but all you want is a road trip to MN for a hockey game. Seems like a much safer trip! Good luck!

argument still works
Even though you’re a college freshman, the road trip to MN vs week of debauchery in Mexico argument still works.
Hey – maybe your mom/dad/trusted relative/etc can ride along and spend the weekend at the Mall of America….

Pretty much any of the hotels downtown will work
Check out the St Paul skyway maps – http://www.saint-paul.com/maps/skyway2.html
It’s probably going to be a more reasonable temp in March, but this way you wouldn’t have to walk outside if the weather is bad.
Many of the hotels in the area also run shuttles to the arena on game/event nights, so call your perspective hotels and ask about that.

Yeah, the Holiday Inn is right there...
There’s the Crowne Plaza which is also within walking distance, too, but is going to be more expensive than the Holiday Inn.
There’s good info here on where to go/what you can do around the X. Hope that helps. :)

Stay Home
We don’t need any Blues fans in our building.
I KID, I KID! The Holiday Innis your best bet. The Saint Paul Hotel is right there, too, but it is high buck. No way you want to stay there. You can eat at Casetta’s for Italian, McGovern’s for traditional fare, or The Liffy is right in the lobby of the hotel. Excellent Wild Rice soup.
As for an arguement. You’re over the age of 18, why do you need to argue? Just go. Yeah, yeah, I get it, you need a place to live when you get back. I’m willing to bet your parents will let you back in. We’ll see you on March 15th.
