Russo: Wild Defeat Ilves 5-1
Since there is no TV nor radio to use for a full gamer, we'll default to Russo on this one. From all accounts, the Wild played a decent game, save for the second period. Eventually the Wild's forecheck must have worn down Tempere, as Cal Clutterbuck netted a hat trick, and the Cullen line continued to put points on the board.
The first game of the season is on Thursday, so maybe a win will help give the Wild a boost and get them thinking happy thoughts.

Heh...
I’m pretty sure that it’s an internet hoax.

I mean,
who would believe that Clutterbuck scored a hat-trick?

Greetings from Orlando
Looks like while I was in the air our boys found their way to beat a Finnish team. Nice. Now, can they just go ahead, bring Granlund home with them and leave Stoner there?

Funny you say the Cullen line when it’s pretty much never been the same line all pre-season long. Cullen’s been magnificent though, one of the only bright spots of the pre-season.
Great win, but it’s too bad it was even less meaningless than the other pre-season games… perhaps the ice is broken now? Let’s hope so!

Nice!
Glad to see the guys finally win. I’m also glad Clutter got a hat trick!

Can we beat an NHL team before we get confident?
the stars are not lining up I still see the playoffs up there with unicorn wishes and dreams sprinkled with pixie dust.
Nothing better than World Series baseball in the snow!
who got confident?
We all know this was a meaningless game, but it’s still something to build on, and with the pre-season the Wild just had, no one’s expecting a cup champion here. That being said, it’s not uncommon to see teams perform very differently in the pre-season than they do in the regular season. If you look at the Lions in the NFL (I think it was the Lions), they had a 4-0 record in the preseason and followed up with a 0-16 regular season. Anything’s possible, but as I said, no one’s very confident right now.
