In case you haven't noticed, it's November 1st. That means one thing, Movember has started!
Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men's health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men's health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.
In 2009, global participation of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas climbed to 255,755, with over one million donors raising $42 Million US equivalent dollars for Movember's global beneficiary partners.
If you recall, the Wild were all over Movember last year. From Michael Russo's column last season:
Defenseman Nick Schultz introduced the idea to teammates in honor of his friend Casey Heintz's father, Hugh, who is battling prostate cancer. Schultz registered the Wild as the Minnesota Mo Bro's and made a donation on behalf of the team.
"My grandfather's had prostate cancer before, so cancer in general has been involved in my family, so I thought it would be kind of fun for the guys to do," Schultz said.
That said, we'll be covering Movember like a blanket, bringing you the best facial hair from across the NHL, and yes, we're participating too!
Help us support the 1 in 2 men that will be diagnosed with cancer. Join the Hockey Wilderness Movember team: http://us.movember.com/register/140586
So, post your Mo, your favorite Mo's from across the NHL and join us in changing the face of mens health. Seriously.
