Wilderness Walk for 11-30-2010

As Olli Jokinen looks on, Jose Theodore takes his turn in the break dance arena.

Things are getting a bit testy in the locker room. Maybe that is a good sign. Maybe a little frustration and outright anger is what this team needs. Clearly, something is missing, so if anger has to fill that void to get them motivated, so be it. Fans need to remember these guys don't like losing, and the guys need to remember the fans don't like paying to watch them lose.

Admitting there is a problem is the first step toward solving it. Now, someone figure out what the problem is, can you?

It's an off day, so rest up. Game tomorrow, game Friday, game Saturday. If thins don't get figured out in a hurry, it could be a long week. To prepare yourselves, head to Facebook for the Question of the Day. To cool down after that calorie burning practice, how about making a Movember donation? Last day!

Video of the Day

This is the video you will be seeing all day today. Sidney Crosby was involved in a controversial play, thus it will be all we can talk about. Just know that anyone who tells you that this wasn't a slew-foot hasn't read the rule book.

52.1 Slew-footing - Slew-footing is the act of a player or goalkeeper using his leg or foot to knock or kick an opponent’s feet from under him, or pushes an opponent’s upper body backward with an arm or elbow, and at the same time with a forward motion of his leg, knocks or kicks the opponent’s feet from under him, causing him to fall violently to the ice.

Game is lost in 18-second stretch | StarTribune.com - Players sound like they are taking ownership of what is going on. Which is great. Now, can they take ownership to fix it?

Minnesota Wild outgunned, not outshot in shutout loss at Calgary - TwinCities.com - I would go with "outplayed" but that doesn't seem to be the popular opinion.

Happy birthday, Jared Spurgeon, and welcome to the Minnesota Wild - TwinCities.com - Indeed, the kid looked alright. Wish he could go back to Houston and grow about five inches, but he is what he is.

Off the Trail

Joel's Views " Blog Archive " Twitterview #186 – With Ryan Stanzel (@rstanzel) - Ever wanted to know more about Wild Media Realtions guru Ryan Stanzel? Yeah, me either. However, someone does, and he gave it to them. Good interview, even if Stanzel is a Yankee fan.

Fight it Out

A lot of teams do better after things boil over and they release the fury. Make sure to first send down Kassian first, he’s a tough guy, might hurt people.

Send him out to get chicken first. Why chicken? I think the real question is: Why not?

They are going to be hungry after the fight, and soft drinks can double as ice packs!

Come on, Mikko!

“Don’t tell us what we need to do! We know what we need to do!”

So, uh, what seems to be the problem then? I guess when what you know is “You have to play better!”, it’s just a bit difficult to get it done.

I wonder

if refs know what a slew foot is. It seems to never get called.
