Versus Back on DirecTV; Ovie Suspended, Downie? Not So Much

Directv_medium Versus_medium

One of the lengthiest battles I can remember in the media world is over. According to DirecTV on Twitter, Versus will return to the air this evening, on channel 603.

Only one remaining Wild game is scheduled to air on Versus, March 23rd at home vs the Sharks.

Enjoy the playoffs, everyone, the occasional NHL game is back on Versus.

Oh, in other news, Ovechkin was suspended 2 games for his hit against Brian Campbell last night. Steve Downie did not even get a hearing for his take down of Sidney Crosby. Discuss.

Good to see it's back

but I can’t stand their game coverage. The announcers annoy the hell outta me.

I don’t know if I’m prepared to criticize the Versus broadcast team given the yokels we have doing the MN Wild TV broadcasts.

Occasionally Andy Brickley is on there, and he’s one of the best color guys in the league.

From Russo:

Agent George Bazos tells Star Tribune that the Wild is close to signing UMass forward Casey Wellman to a two-year entry-level deal. Wellman tied for sixth in nation with 23 goals. Bazos said 22 teams showed interest in the 36 hours since UMass season ended

Its about time Versus or DirecTV

Whoever the hell was being the tightwad its about time. In fact, each time Versus tweeted about a NHL game update I would send a rambling tweet back about how pissed I was they weren’t on DTV. Therefore I will take full credit for the 2 companies coming together….your all very welcome. : )

This just in

Ovechkin is a goon and has as many suspensions as Boogy. Anyone as not surprised as I am?

Downie

I’m not sure what to make of the Downie play. It wasn’t a slewfoot. There could have been intent to injure Crosby’s knee, but how do you prove that? If you’re an incompetent disciplinarian you probably just sweep it under the rug.
