Wilderness Walk for 5-17-2010
Can someone tell me why they would plan two Conference finals games on the same day, and then have no representation of the league the following day? Solid planning NHL, really solid. Well done.
Random Wild Video of the Day:
The Wild are "on their way to the top." Huh. Not so much.
Playoff Team Game ReCaps:
Flyers Deal Canadiens a Swift Kick in Game One - Habs Eyes On The Prize - If I remember correctly, the Habs lost an embarrassing game in each series thus far. They then came back to smoke the opposition. Should be interesting to see how they respond.
ECF Game 1: One down as Leighton shuts out Habs, Flyers win 6-0 rout - Broad Street Hockey - I suppose we should all be happy for JS. 6-0 routing of your least favorite team has got to feel good.
Niemi steals game one in San Jose, Blackhawks win 2-1 - Fear The Fin - "Niemi steals game." Have those words every been used in that order in the same sentence?
An Inch Above Sand - Hawks 2, Sharks 1 (Hawks lead series 1-0) - Second City Hockey - Happy group over at SCH.
KiPA's Korner:
Hitting The Post: Conference finals begin - The Pens are out, and the recaps get shorter. Hey... at least they are still around.

The Caps locked up Nick Backstrom (the other one) to a 10 year $67 mil deal! That’s a pretty good deal for a guy who put 101 pts up last season.
I’m wondering how they plan to keep a full team with all that money invested in 2 players

That’s a very good deal. For both sides. Now all I need to do is decide if I want to keep him or Sidney Crosby around next season on my salary cap hockey team. I have them both, and both would garner a pretty good trade, too…

Since I know you love Adrian Daters work, did you see the headline in Puck Daddy that has him wanting Kovalchuk in an Avs uniform next season?
No I didn’t. I haven’t looked at Headlines yet today though, either. Would be an interesting pick-up, though he does not fit their system, so not sure why they would. Of course, they could change the system to fit him, but that seems like an awfully big gamble.

I landed a triple backflip when I saw the score! 6-0! :D
Halak may have been godly in these playoffs, but I think he’s been pulled the most too… not sure…
The Backstrom deal is insane, the guy’s only going to get even better, probably surpassing Ovechkin some day. 6.7million per year is a great deal.
