It is being widely "reported" via Twitter that Steve Yzerman will be the next GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning. To our friends in Tampa, you may now exhale. Things are going to be OK. HWSRN has been sent back to his demonic realm, and your team can once again begin the work of attempting to win. It should certainly be interesting with so many UFAs, RFAs, a huge contract in Vinny Lecavalier, another in Marty St. Louis, and Steven Stamkos in the last season of his entry level deal.

Should be fun times in Tampa.

The nightmares can stop now! Geez, it took long enough… people still won’t shut up about how they beat the president’s trophy winners and the SC defending champions. What they don’t realize is that this means nothing but shit come playoff time. Besides, being defending champs doesn’t automatically make you invincible. Ask the Canes and the Bolts! Good job Flyers! This is going to sound strange, but with all you’ve accomplished, it would be a hell of a story to see them win it all! Especially with Marian ‘’The Cup repellant’’ Hossa playing in yet ANOTHER SC finals…

They still beat the two NHL players I hate the most. In the playoffs….where INTENSITY THRIVES….and all that other bullshit that Versus pumps out every damn commercial.

I don’t like either the Flyers or Habs but I would rather see the Flyers in the Cup final than the Habs and that’s what happened!

Anyone know why we have to wait until Saturday for the Final to start? Kind of odd…

Congrats to Tampa for picking Stevie Y! A much better choice than you know who.

I think it's because NBC had dibs on it and they assumed the conference finals would last 7 games, so they had already reserved the air time...

This is what I have heard as well. Plus, if you look at the schedule, NBC is only taking games on weekends and the “if necessary” games. We wouldn’t want to interrupt Dateline to show the Cup finals, you know.

Sad that he’s leaving Detroit, but Stevie Y deserves his chance to be GM somewhere, so I’m happy for the guy. He was my favorite player growing up, class act on and off the ice, never hear a bad thing about him, and there should be more players like him, not just in the NHL but in every sport. Congrats Stevie Y!!
