Calling on Fantasy Hockey Fans

First time FanPoster, long time commenter!  I needed some advice about the Wild for Fantasy Hockey.

I'm currently in a keeper league and I wanted to know who the dedicated followers of Hockey Wilderness think will be the Top 5 prospects for the Wild organization.  I'm looking for the prospects who are not only the most talented, but are the closest to cracking the Wild's lineup in the near future.

Let me know what you think!

Prospects

Have you read the blog posts by circulartheory about the Wild prospects? If not – go to the HW home page and do a search for “prospects”.

I have!

Great stuff too. I’m looking for more of a Fantasy analysis of our prospects though.

For example: Cuma and Scandella may be two of our best prospects, but they wouldn’t be very fantasy relevant due to their more “defensive d-man” style of play.

The closest prospect to cracking the lineup has got to be Wellman, though he will likely be a 3 / 4 line center for a while. You are correct on Scandella being more of a stay at home type guy, but Cuma should be able to add to the offense. Think Brent Burns more than Nick Schultz. That said, Cuma is not going to contribute at that level for a few more years. D-men take a long time to develop.

Forwards, I would look more toward Granlund and Wellman. Depending on the length of time you can sit on this picks, Haula may warrant a look, as well as Zucker and some of the other picks from this year.

Granlund and Wellman were definite choices, especially since Wellman has a good chance of being active this year. I didn’t think about Zucker though, that’s a good call.
