Wilderness Walk for 11-2-2011
Say, have you heard about this Movember thing? It's pretty cool. Everyone is doing it. What you do is you grow a moustache to raise awareness for men's health and money for prostate cancer research. It's really simple to do, too. You just stop shaving your upper lip for a month. We are actually asking you to do LESS work, and rewarding you for it. How awesome is that?
Now, the really fun part is, many other gentlemen are doing the same. You can actually team up and help raise the money mentioned above. It's so awesome, even the entire Wild team is participating. You should help out. Ladies, you too. No Mos for you, but you can still help. Join the Hockey Wilderness team, or contribute to the cause.
After the jump, links about... well, exactly what you think they'll be about.

Red Wings Vs. Wild: Did Mikko Koivu Interfere With Niklas Kronwall Before Winning Goal? - SBNation.com
Koivu laid out an awesomely legal hit on his way towards chasing down his own rebound, and he was able to get off a fancy little pass through a defender to enable Setoguchi to win the game. Instead of blaming the hit, the Wings should maybe blame the penalty that put Minnesota on the man-advantage, or perhaps the blowing of a one-goal lead in the third period, or their goaltender for not making the stop on Setoguchi down low.

Don't you just love how everyone's talking about the Koivu hit
But no one gives a damn about Miller’s flying elbow on Harding? You know? The play that actually got called as a charging penalty? Not interference. Charging.

I actually missed that play
and have been unable to find the video.
The photo gives an idea
He tried to go around Harding, but he left his skates and elbowed Harding with a follow through motion.

Harrison Mooney is still a Moron
Stopped by the Puck Daddy chat and someone asked Mooney if he still thought the Wild had the worse D in the league. He said he still believes that, when others came back with the whole fact that the Wild were like 5th best in GA. He said ya but they are one of the worst in Goals For…
SO remember, It is now our D’s fault we are not scoring goals, thus making them the worst in the league.

Mooney is a bit of a hack but
our d-men are not the best at the breakout right now, but I don’t think any of us expected them to be much better offensively or this good defensively. I will take good defense any day of the week.
Exactly
Our defense is just fine. The misconception nowadays is if defensemen don’t produce on the scoreboard, they’re no good or at least not as important. The Norris trophy is becoming more and more about just offense instead of all-around skill.

Also potentially big news on Russo's blog
Scandella, Johnson, and Falk are moving out of the team hotel. I don’t think Scandella or Johnson is a huge shock, but how about Falk? I know he requires waivers to be sent down, but if they are telling him to find a permanent home, they must not be too keen on trading him either. Plus, he has been pretty good, Prosser too. Big improvement for Falk so far compared to last year. You have to wonder about Zanon and Zidlicky, maybe Zanon’s injury is worse than what we are being led to believe. And I know we can all wish for Zidlicky to be traded, it’s not going to happen. But I think he is about to lose a lot more ice time pretty quick here. Maybe I am reading too much into this, but not bad for the worst defense in the league.
Remember though...
THey have to be out of the hotel after a certain amount of time. It doesn’t mean they are sticking around, just that they have been on the roster enough time.

Other news
Kassian being put on waivers to get him back to Houston. Reading the comments on the strib from Russo’s blog, I have to wonder if they are talking about the same Kassian or one who can do more than fight because there are people not happy with this move.
That was your first mistake
Reading the Strib comments makes my head hurt. I sure hope those idiots don’t find their way overhere as the paywall goes up…
They can be funny to read.
But you are right, most are just plain dumb. I think my favorite one today was the person who claimed that starting Harding against the Canucks was the biggest mistake ever.
I have to make good use of my 20 free views at the Trib...
Just because I don’t get the paper 7 days a week, they want me to pay for a digital subscription… um sorry.
Completely unrelated, but hilarious

Regardless of the reputation, have to say that’s a fairly classy move by him. Also, it’s amazing how much better 5-3-3 looks than 4-4-3. Canucks should be fun.
On Koivus hit...
Interference call I would get, even an elbow call since the refs were making some horrible calls all night. In no way do I see a suspension. Just mainly bitter Wings fans, and they should be.
