First, this is great for the Wild to develop better regional rivals (Chicago, Detroit, St Louis, Winnipeg in particular) that more closely reflect traditional North Star rivalries and closer to division alignments in other sports. No more late divisional starts with teams thousands of miles away.
Second, there are some damn good organizations in this division with a bunch of young talent and deep pockets, and it’s 8 deep rather than 7. This is going to be one of the toughest divisions year in and year out.
other divisions
East Coast: Washington, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, both New York teams (Islanders and Rangers), New Jersey and Carolina
Canada and Florida: Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Boston, Buffalo, Florida and Tampa Bay
West Coast: San Jose, Anaheim, Vancouver, Colorado, Edmonton, Calgary, Los Angeles and Phoenix
You mean the Wild are going to be playing more games in St. Louis?
