You have been asking for it for years, Wild fans, and now you got it. The Aeros made the trips to Saint Paul. They do so at the perfect moment as they are sitting in first place in the AHL Western Conference, and judging by that, could probably beat at least 8 or 9 teams in the NHL.
What does this mean for the Wild? The guys in Houston are learning how to win, how to win in big games, and how to win under pressure. First place means a playoff berth, and that means they are going to learn how to pla when the games are win or go home.
Hopefully you made it out here. If so, be loud. The Aeros need to know what it is like to play in the big house. Make some noise, support the future of the Wild.
Five Questions:
- Can Patrick O'Sullivan show Wild fans what they are missing?
- Can we watch Borat without getting dizzy?
- Heather tells us the AHL moves a little slower than the NHL. Do we notice?
- Will Wild fans show up and support the Aeros?
- Does Stiffler's mom really got it goin' on?

Mario Lemieux is NOT happy
"Hockey is a tough, physical game, and it always should be. But what happened Friday night on Long Island wasn’t hockey. It was a travesty. It was painful to watch the game I love turn into a sideshow like that.
"The NHL had a chance to send a clear and strong message that those kinds of actions are unacceptable and embarrassing to the sport. It failed.
"We, as a league, must do a better job of protecting the integrity of the game and the safety of our players. We must make it clear that those kinds of actions will not be tolerated and will be met with meaningful disciplinary action.
"If the events relating to Friday night reflect the state of the league, I need to re-think whether I want to be a part of it."
If anything is going to change in this league, it has to start at the top. The owners run it, they need to implement the change they want to see. This is a start. Let’s see if he can make a difference.

and only 4-5K show up..wow.
Stretcher out on the ice to take Cuma off. He was moving his arms. Too many people around him to see much more.

he's one of the top guys down in Houston too...ugh
was hoping he would step up with Madden, Miettinen, Brunette, and Kobasew hitting the free agent market.
Well, he’s a D-man, so not going to replace those guys, but your point remains true.

Who do you project down in Houston could be good replacements for those guys?
Besides O’Sullivan, and Casey Wellman.
No one in Houston is ready to be a 60 point forward. However, guys like Cody Almond, Chad Rau, Jarod Palmer… they need to get some time in the NHL to see if they have what it takes. Mikko Koivu didn’t jump into the NHL as a 70+ point center. Took a few years. Need to get these guys up, give them a chance, let them adjust to the speed.

This game is amazingly slow. I mean, I get they are minor leaguers, but still. It’s like watching the Gophers. Fun, yet… off.

yeah..making the transition to watching minor league hockey to watching major league hockey is kinda meh.
Less goals scored, less checking, not as much action as the NHL.
Yeah, the passes seem slower, off target. Watching the puck slide off so many sticks is a bit frustrating, too.

It's rather irritating.
There also doesn’t seem to be the rivalry factor you get in the NHL, College, or Hell even high school…it feels like it’s just another game…can completely take the excitement out of the game.
