Russo has huge news out of Wild practice today. Mikko Koivu has returned to practice, and Guillaume Latendresse could return to games as early as tomorrow. You should all know this already, since you are following him on Twitter (right?), but nonetheless, it is good news to hear he is back on the ice.
From Russo on Twitter:
Big news: Mikko Koivu practicing with #mnwild
Then he followed it up on his blog with this:
Koivu definitely doesn't look comfortable gripping his stick in practice, but clearly he's close to giving this a try.
So, it sounds to me like the team needs to win 10 of the last 16 to make the playoffs, Mikko Koivu is a hockey player and the Kaptain of the team, and he isn't going to sit by and watch it go by. That's what we call dedication to team, heart, commitment. Broken finger? Psh. My team needs me.
Good on ya, Mikko.
Other news from Russo says that Guillaume Latendresse could return to the games as early as tomorrow versus the Colorado Avalanche. The emphasis is on could. It sounds from the on going conversation like the odds are still small, but at least the odds are being placed at this point. That, in itself, is a good thing.
The quote from BTE says it best (also from Russo on Twitter):
But Latendresse says, "Could be tomorrow. Could be in 2 weeks. We don't know."
So that makes me feel like the coach is ready to put him in, and the player is still wary. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
You're up Wilderness. Good to see the news? Mikko pushing it a bit? Thoughts? Venting? Whadaya got?
