Hockey Wilderness Community 2011 NHL Mock Draft: Toronto Maple Leafs

Maple_leafs_logo_medium

We are out of time, so we best finish this up, eh? We left the draft with the Canucks on the clock, something I fully expect to result in a rain of boo's from the Xcel Energy Center crowd tomorrow. However, for now, we look at who the community chose, and the community thought the Canucks needed David Musil, a defenseman from... wait for it... Vancouver.

Barf.

With the sappiest pick of the draft, our mock looks like this:

1. Edmonton Oilers: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
2. Colorado Avalanche: Gabriel Landeskog
3. Florida Panthers: Adam Larsson
4. New Jersey Devils: Sean Couturier
5. New York Islanders: Jonathan Huberdeau
6. Ottawa Senators: Ryan Strome
7. Winnipeg: Mika Zibanejad
8. Columbus Blue Jackets
Dougie Hamilton
9. Boston Bruins
Ryan Murphy
10. Minnesota Wild: Sven Bartschi
11. Colorado Avalanche: Duncan Siemens
12. Carolina Hurricanes: Mark McNeill
13. Calgary Flames: Joel Armia
14. Dallas Stars: Zack Phillips
15. New York RangersMark Scheifele
16. Buffalo Sabres: Nathan Beaulieu
17. Montreal Canadiens: Jamie Oleksiak
18. Chicago Blackhawks: Brandon Saad
19. Edmonton Oilers: Oscar Kelfbom
20. Phoenix Coyotes: Thomas Jurco
21. Ottawa Senators: Matthew Puempel
22. Anaheim Ducks: Alexander Khokhlachev
23. Pittsburgh Penguins: Rocco Grimaldi
24. Detroit Red Wings: Jonas Brodin
25. Toronto Maple Leafs: Ty Rattie
26. Washington Capitals: Steve Mayfield
27. Tampa Bay Lightning: Vladislav Namestnikov
28. San Jose Sharks: Joe Morrow
29. Vancouver Canucks: David Musil

Finishing up this project, the Toronto Maples Leafs with the pick they acquired from the Boston Bruins in the trade Tomas Kaberle. Make the jump and finish this off.

Star-divide

With their pick at 25, the Leafs added Ty Rattie, a good sized left winger to add to a growing prospect pool being formed by the devious Brian Burke. I know Leafs fans are perpetually cynical of their team, but with Optimus Rime in the net and Nazem Kadri coming up very quickly, the Leafs are going to be good. And soon.

Today, you get to make the last selection of the Hockey Wilderness 2011 NHL mock draft. Who will it be?

I picked other

and I say they select Tyler Biggs. It just makes too much sense. A guy that big and physical was born to play for a Burke team.
