Thought you guys would be interested. Also, talks about Robyn Regehr being traded to Buffalo are ongoing apparently.

Editor's update: Mike Richards now sent to LA for Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds. Not sure what Philly is doing here.

Update Two: Ilya Bryzgalov signed for 9 years in Philly for $51 million. Of course Bryz is going to play until he is 40. Goalies do it all the time, right?

Mike Richards also! What the hell Philly!?

(Apparently) Carter and Richards are bad chemistry guys…? From what I’ve read, they were bad for the locker room, which makes no sense to me. Why would the Flyers name a captain that was bad in the locker room?

Hmm weird!

I mean I can understand moving one of them, but both!? Then go out and sign Bryz for 9 years! Wow. I would have loved either player on the Wild though.

I read in the comment section at Broad Street Hockey that said Laviolette and Richards didn’t care much for each other. Maybe that’s what it is.

I'm surprised as hell by this

So they trade the teams two top goal scorers but a get a really good goalie and some blue chip prospects in return?

Any bets on Philly NOT making the playoffs this year?

Considering how weak the bottom teams in the East are, I’ll take that bet. Even without Richards and Carter, the Flyers are still better than the Rangers. Best blueline in the Eastern Conference (when Pronger is healthy). They still have a ton of depth, and now (maybe) they can put that whole goalie rotation crap to bed.

I would not

Give up what CJB or LA did for Carter and Richards especially due to their contracts and their supposed cancerous lockeroom personalities, no thanks!

Similar trades for the Wild for Carter would be:

Our 1st, 3rd and Granlund.

For Richards it would be:

Granlund and Latendresse.

NO THANKS. Have you seen the cap hits and length of contract for both these guys? Not worth it. Don’t get me wrong, Richards is tempting but he is kind of a moody guy and Carter is kind of a baby from what I’ve heard. No thanks, not needed on a team without too many bad contracts and some moody players already. I am with Fletch on building through the draft, develop your own players and get them for cheap while they are still producing. Now if we could just pick up a second rounder somewhere?

It would likely take way more than Granlund and Lats for Richards

But WOW… holy super trades Batman! Philly is a totally new team now and they’ve got some great young players coming in… plus now they have a goalie… this is going to become scary pretty soon.

Speaking of scary, Carter with Nash? FUCK.

So we aren't trading for Nash?

Nash needs more of a playmaker like Stastny which is weird, but they improved a lot that’s for sure.

Richards added a lot to that team including size, Briere and Giroux aren’t the biggest centers. JVR, Schenn and Giroux for years? Damnnnnnn!

by Kingpin45 on Jun 23, 2011 8:02 PM CDT up reply actions

We were never

trading for Nash or probably anyone else. If there are any trades it will be guys like Zanon, Stoner or maybe even Schultz. Minor things to free up cap space and probably sign Burns. Draft and develop.

Will Columbus

try to outscore opponents like the Capitals? Their goaltending is still terrible and other than playing the Wild, they still aren’t a very good team.

Voracek couldn’t even be a top 6 player in Columbus. Very poor work ethic and more likely a 3rd maybe 2nd liner. Granlund has much more of an upside and has more value then Voracek.
