Minnesota "Wild" @Toronto Maple Leafs: Game Recap
Minnesota "Wild" 1 - 4 Toronto Maple Leafs
One of the few requirements here at SBNation is that we provide game recaps within a certain time frame after a game is played in which a team we cover has participated. Thankfully, there is a loophole. If you can prove to us that the Minnesota Wild actually participated in this game, we will gladly provide a game recap.
Rather than waste your precious time on a fairy tale, we simply invite you to visit our friends at Pension Plan Puppets. From what we can gather, the Maple Leafs actually participated in a game this evening.

The Bennett's Chop & Railhouse Stars of the Game:
- Mikhail Grabovski (1G, 6 SOG)
- Phil Kessel (1G, 5 SOG)
- Johan Gustafsson (20 Saves)
- Marek Zidlicky (-2, 17:35 TOI)
- Jared Spurgeon (-2, 18:37 TOI)
- Warren Peters (-1, 0 SOG)
Five Questions:
- Does Heatley / Peters / Setoguchi work? Nope. The positive? It wasn't any worse.
- How does Backstrom look in his return? Not good.
- Justin Falk sits. Can Zanon steal his spot? Not a chance.
- How well does the Wellman - Cullen - Clutterbuck line work? Not any better than anyone else, no.
- Anyone coming out to Skate for the Troops on Saturday? Seriously, click the link. COme on out and say hi. Great event for a great cause.

Taffe
Why hasn’t he got the call to come up and play? Is it a money issue?
Thanks.
I didn’t check the Houston stats. Makes sense.

I disagree. Until the vets get their shit together, I don’t think they should call anyone up. No need to expose anyone else to this toxic environment.

Same story, different night
Seriously, how does this team win another game this year? And I don’t want to hear when Koivu comes back, they were playing like garbage before he got hurt. And when we do trade Brodziak? He might fetch a second rounder and I have a feeling they won’t be resigning him.

The law of large numbers?
And when we do trade Brodziak?
He’s worth more at the deadline, in my opinion, but I don’t see him being re-signed at this point.

I'm just frustrated, I know they will win again, but wow what a disgusting display.
And Russo says that Fletch was on the phone all game trying to trade someone, probably anyone, and I doubt there are many takers. On another note, remember how Burke stole Lupul last year from the Ducks, he was the afterthought in the deal and now he’s a stud.
Thankfully I have class from 6-850 on thursday nights, so I missed the entire non-game. My undefeated streak at the X this season will be put to the test on Saturday. If the wild manage to win, the Wild should give me tickets for the rest of the season.

Ha ha. I got two of those left. I’m torn between using them to buy Club Level seats for upcoming games, spend all that money to come down to St. Paul and spend the weekend, and see them lose OR watch the game on tv, listen to Terhaar & Greenlay blather on and on about “rolling pucks” and “bouncing pucks”, and see them lose.

Not only have the wheels come off
but the Wild are currently resting on cinder blocks in the front yards as the weeds slowly grow into the engine block. I haven’t checked, but there might be a family of field mice living in there somewhere, but I am skeptical… that would mean there is some life in the Wild.

Lack of effort combined with lack of talent is not a good strategy to win games.
Our positioning in the offensive zone is awful! Nobody knows where thier linemates are going to be. They pause to look until it’s too late then turn to the boards and lose the puck battle…every time.
I like the three duds of the game thing.
3 duds
Can we leave Zidlicky as a default?!
