Wilderness Walk for 1-20-2012: Skydiving Edition
If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you. I've been sky diving. It's a rush met by few others. If you haven't been, you should try it. Perfectly good airplanes are meant to be jumped out of.
Now, if you are sitting atop the NHL in mid-December, I would suggest not jumping. I would also suggest not flying the plane directly into a mountain, as seems to be the case right now with the Wild. It is beyond explanation at this point. I know that opens the door to a load of stats to be thrown at me, but even those stats can't possibly explain this.
This is just 23 grown men, among the best in the world at what they do, being unable to execute the smallest and simplest parts of their jobs and getting snippy about it. It's almost.. pitiable. Everyone around here is in for the long haul, and we're all ready to get back to sunshine and rainbows. Lead the way.
Jump.

Stats can help explain why things went south, so to speak. But they can’t explain why they went this far south. Sweet lord did they ever go south.

Right
While so damn many people predicted regression, no one could ever have predicted 15 losses on 17 games, no matter how much they believed in it.
We knew very well they wouldn’t stay on top either, but we’ve been predicting 6-7-8th in the West for the Wild and right now, they’re squandering that beautiful start and may not even make the playoffs. In fact, the playoffs are looking more and more like a stretch.
I'm that ''ignorant dumbass'' who writes with the ''whiny idiot homer'' over at Hockey Wilderness.

Who packed this chute?
And why isn’t it opening?
It’s almost time for a Slim Picken’s moment… when he rides the bomb down, rodeo style, in the movie Dr. Strangelove. We’re in for an unpleasant ride, and we might as well make the most of it. I just don’t know what that might be.
The young guys that the Wild look to build around aren’t due in the system until next year. So, they can’t start blowing it up right now and start trying to get the young guys up to speed. The team is in a free fall that is more than a more or two away from being righted. They don’t even have a lot of movable pieces outside of their prospects, which are proving ever more essential to any future success of this team.
So, the team just needs to hunker down and survive this crap storm. Oh, and they can try to do their jobs and actually go out there and play a game of hockey.

Occupying the X
I upgraded to Club Level for the game against Dallas on Saturday. For the first time ever, I’m not even the least bit excited to be at the X. On the bright side, if they get their asses whooped AGAIN, I’ll atleast get to see it from a better vantage point. The game’s sold out (only single seats available, according to TM). Wonder how loud the X is gonna be, given that there aren’t a whole lotta home games this month.

The X will only be loud
if the team gives the fans something to cheer about…or if the team gets booooo’d off the ice.

So based on recent performances...
it’s safe to assume the place is gonna be as quiet as a church mouse.

The comment above was supposed to be a reply to Mark It Zero
But for whatever reason, the reply option isn’t working…the Z function isn’t working either…at least their not working for me. Can I go home now?

It's going to be a long day at work for the next few months then.
Last night was unwatchable in my opinion, and yet I still wasted three hours of my life, WHY?!
Comes from being a passionate fan, I guess. I was almost tempted to watch an episode of "Teen Mom" the night they lost to the Flyers. I didn’t give in though.

Not a bandwagon fan
I really feel like I need to watch games and support the team even when losing…or I wont have the right to celebrate WHEN they win. They will start winning again and then I can say remember watching all those games where they couldnt score to save their lives?
