Wilderness Walk for 1-9-2012
Welcome back, me. Thanks, me. You're welcome, good sir... now get back to work.
Yes, Wilderness, you're not so triumphant fisherman returns after a few days of sitting and staring at holes in the ice with little to no return. Obviously, it was better than being at work, but it sure would have been nice to catch some fish. Ah well. To infinity and beyond.
We have a short Walk ahead for you. Not much news today, being a non-game day, and well... they aren't doing very well which allows everyone to pretend they don't exist again. It's a comforting feeling knowing the world can right itself it so many ways.
Enjoy the Walk. We should have some fun for you throughout the day as well. Welcome back, me.
Wild News
Frustration lingers as earlier success keeps eluding Wild | StarTribune.com - In this piece, Mike Yeo mentions that his team is no longer as aggressive as they once were. Not sure if I should be happy that I mentioned how passive they were weeks ago, or scared that Yeo doesn't understand that his team's lack of aggressiveness has nothing to do with it. Clearly the poor Fenwick and Corsi scores just caught up with them, right?
Tending the Fields
The Third Intermission: Aeros beat San Antonio 4-3 - Well, at least one team remembered how to win.
Keep Fighting
Gopher Athletes Collect Nearly $11K for Jack Jablonski | KSTP TV - Minneapolis and St. Paul - Not bad, Goofs. Not bad.
Hockey parents wait, hope | Minnesota Girls Hockey Hub - A teenage girl was injured badly in a game this weekend from a check from behind. In a league that doesn't even allow checking, how is that going unpunished?
Off the Trail?
Tea with Ms.Conduct: Throwing my bra at Athletic Trainers | Backhand Shelf | Blogs | theScore.com - Good stuff from Ms. C as she throws some love to the unsung heroes of any given team.
Ms. Conduct: Up for air, finally - If you have ever wanted an inside look at the way Ms. C's brain works (why would you want that?), here it is.

Just saw
Russo just Tweeted that we sent down Scandella and brought up Mcintyre. I was wondering when Mcintyre was going to get a second look. I thought he played really well in his first call-up. Hopefully Pizza can get his toppings back on, cause they seem to have fallen off… And sooner rather than later.
Even though he would need to pass through waivers.
They should consider sending Gillies down too. I got roasted yesterday for suggesting letting the kids play and after much thought, I was wrong. Let the vets play here and the kids play in the AHL and build some confidence. We don’t need another Edmonton here.
Well, to be fair, Gillies isn’t really a “kid” anymore. This is his make or break year, and he isn’t doing well. He will eventually either end up in Houston, claimed off of waivers, or traded for a late round pick to some poor team who thinks they can fix him.

Master of unsustainable passive regression.
Taffe
I know he’s not an offensive machine, but does anyone think he could help add a little spark to our offense? He played well with Koivu and Heatley when asked to, why not reward him for it? Now that Bouchard is hurt, we need someone to play on the second line with Cullen and Wellman. I think Setoguchi could be that guy, he’s fast and shoots the puck well.
