Marco Scandella to Houston

In a surprising, yet fully predictable, move, the Minnesota Wild have sent struggling defenseman Marco Scandella to the Houston Aeros.

Scandella is a poster boy for the Minnesota Wild's season. An amazing start that had people talking about the big things yet to come, only to come crashing down and completely lose his game. For the first quarter of the season, Scandella was drawing comparisons to departed Brent Burns, and showing the potential of a true top pairing d-man in the NHL. Then, it all just... stopped.

Scandella began making mistakes, not shooting, not pinching. To use Mike Yeo's words, not being "aggressive." Not to say that Scandella is the problem with the Wild, but he is a shining example of everything that is going wrong with them.

With the Wild carrying eight healthy d-men, a move had to be coming, and the team is actively shopping Greg Zanon. However, Scandella lost out to the guys who are playing within their roles, and now gets some time to regain his confidence, and find his game, in Houston.

Here's hoping he can find the positives in this move and not take it as a further confidence bruise.

What do you do when the toppings fall off the Pizza?

Send it back to get the toppings put back on… Here’s to hoping he can get those toppings back sooner rather than later. Go get some confidence Marco.

So who returns to the lineup?

And who’s the bigger trade chip, Zanon or Lundin?

Zanon is the better trade chip for a contender. Veteran leadership, shot blocker… that’s what trade deadline teams want. Lundin may be more attractive to a team planning long term, if they think he is a long term solution.

I'm a little surprised.

He was struggling, but didn’t think they would send him down because of it. I’m sure, part of the reason is to send a message to him and the other players.

Regardless, I’m going to miss my hubby. I really hope he gets back on track in Houston quickly, so he can come back here with regained confidence.

Well something has to give

They can’t keep carrying 9 D, and Prosser is playing better than him so he deserves to stay. You could waive Zanon or Lundin and risk losing them for nothing, but it would suck to lose them for nothing.

This way Scandella gets to go to the A, play a lot of minutes and refind his game.

Yes I know.

I’m hoping he plays well down there and comes back up soon with a vengeance.
