Wilderness Walk for 2-19-2012: Game Day Edition
Here's where we're at folks. Russo doesn't know what to say about the team anymore. We here at Hockey Wilderness have no idea what to say about the team anymore. Fans are looking for answers where there aren't any. There is no joy in Mudville.
I am going to continue to remind you, and to some it is preaching to the choir, but there simply is no one man to blame here. There is nothing to do to fix it. There is only the chance to ride it out, be hockey fans and accept the team for what they are. Maybe there is some fun to be had along the way.
Maybe not.
No matter what happens, there is always your fellow Wild fans, specifically those here at Hockey Wilderness to commiserate with. Who better to understand the way you feel than people who feel the same way. Twenty four games left to play. Hockey season is almost over. Again. Sigh.

I hope they at least make it entertaining today, I’m not the kind of fan to leave early

We’ll have 1.75 year old at the game; leaving early may be a forgone conclusion for us.
Being from Minnesota, it would be rude to put something clever here.
well that’s a little bit different, I wouldn’t blame anyone leaving early with a little one

Not Much To Say
about the team right now but about the organization I feel confident in Chuck Fletcher and trust him to make the right and timely moves for the future. We just need to be patient, you can’t expect this team to make the playoffs with what they used to have in the pipeline and the talent that they had on the team.

Anyone else starting to think...
All these injuries are an indictment and what kind of shape these “athletes” are in? Clutterbuck missing games for a charlie horse? Koivu undisclosed d2d? I know concussions come in to factor pretty heavily too and those have little to do with strength and conditioning but some of these other injuries seem very preventable or easily treatable. Is it time to start pointing the finger at some of the coaching staff? Players dropping like flies, team that falls apart late in periods/games, didn’t Fletcher talk heavily about this pre season?

I think the typical injuries you see from players being out of shape are groin or hip issues, like Lats has had the last couple of years. Concussions you can’t blame and Koivu’s shoulder was unfortunate. Also, Clutter’s charlie horse injuries were due to a few knee hits he took this year. I am curious as to what this D2D injury is that Koivu has now tho.

Eventually
You have to stop blaming bad seasons on injuries. How many years in a row are you going to bank on players (lats, buch) that constantly hurt? And then when they do get hurt like they always do, blame the season on it. Its not shocking they they havent played much this season, its almost expected. Sooner or later the Wild are going to have to dump these players who can not stay on the ice, or atlest stop counting on them to be a big part of the team. as bad as it sounds

Never Did
blame the season on injuries. Was just stating that their injuries were not due to being out of shape. Yes I realize they do have re-occuring injuries and that’s is likely to happen with concussions but a lot of injuries are due to the nature of the game too.

Am I mistaken...
But they just hired a new strength and conditioning coach this off-season right? At least that is what I thought I learned by watching Becoming Wild. He seemed pretty good from his “15 minutes of fame” in that documentary.
Lats in particular looked to be in great shape. Unfortunately, the head is a bitch. Ask Justin Morneau..
Being from Minnesota, it would be rude to put something clever here.
They brought back their old S&C coach, actually. None of the injuries could have prevented with a different routine. S&C is as best as it has been.

Don't go away
This is one of the very few games I get to watch live seeing as how it is on NBC so I plan on at least posting in the gamethread which is a rarity for me!
Well, if there's nothing left for the Wild to play for this season...
Maybe they will at least pull off an upset here and give the fans something to cheer about.

I just hope it doesn't devolve into 24 games of what we saw yesterday

There is plenty to play for
Like better draft position :)
So what's the Kovu injury this time?
They are being very secretive about it, so hopefully not a concussion.
Pretty sure I heard it was an upper-body injury, not sure though.

That's definitely the biggest concern
At one point I had heard it was an upper-body injury, but now it’s undisclosed.

Im worried about koivu
I wonder if undiclosed means they are running a series of tests to determine either surgery or concussion..
Don't know what I'm fighting for, but I know what I'm fighting against
