Minnesota Wild Draft Lottery Game Day Thread

via burghlife.com

This is our playoffs, done in a form of 14 lottery balls shaking around in some machine.

Exciting, isn't it?

I thought having a thread as we await the results would be a fun place to talk about who might we draft and why the Wild suck so much that they had to win a few more games...

After having a horrendous post trade-deadline, the Wild finally decided to win a few games right before the season ended, effectively giving them more points and a higher standing. Who knew by winning, we were actually losing? But that goes into the whole "win vs. tank" debate which is a non-ending vicious cycle that I won't go into today.

Here is a quick explanation:

The National Hockey League Draft Lottery is a weighted system to determine the order of selection for the first 14 picks of the Draft. The Draft Drawing involves clubs that did not qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs, or the clubs that acquired the first-round drafting positions of those non-playoff clubs.

Per NHL rules, the club selected in the Draft Lottery may not move up more than four positions in the draft order. Thus, the only clubs with the opportunity to receive the first overall selection are the five teams with the lowest regular-season point totals, or the clubs that acquired an eligible club's first-round draft pick.

No club will move down more than one position as a result of the Draft Lottery.

Hockeywilderness already did a few posts on the draft lottery, so it would be a bit redundant to repeat the exact things. So here are few useful links regarding the draft and the lottery.

So what are the Wild's chances of winning? 4.7%

Results Percentage
Move to 3rd overall pick
Remain at 7th overall pick
Move down to 8th overall pick

The lottery is tonight at 7:00PM CDT/8:00PM EST. Not sure what channel it will be shown in the U.S but TSN.ca will be broadcasting the lottery.

To start of the discussion, I thought I would throw out a poll question:
