Hi guys, brand new poster though long time reader here who finally found the courage to make a post after singing up in November. (Back when the Wild were full of promise and hope) I've been reading and hearing a bunch about how Zack will be an UFA after the playoffs and that this team or that team need to (re)sign him. But I've not heard anything about the Wild in the talks, which isn't surprising given the media attention Minnesota teams get outside of the state. (Which, sadly, I am) And after reading a peace on Nash about what teams he might end up on, I wanted to see if there might be any hope for the Wild to land either of these guys this off season.

I think we would all love Zack to be with the Wild. Unfortunately, 29 other teams would love to have him as well. Do the Wild make a big push to try and land the Minnesota Native? Do we go after him until he becomes overpriced, or full out go after him at any cost? Do we say "Well shucks, would be nice to have him on the team, but our youth is the priority." And how likely is it that he would think about coming home to the state of hockey?
And then there's this Rick Nash guy you keep hearing about. We all know he has the list of teams he wants and the Wild are not on it. But lets ignore that fact, because its more fun that way. What do the Wild have give up for him? I see all these wishful trade deals by other fans; Antti Niemi & "x", Tim Thomas & "y" and deals like that. Deals which the Blue Jackets would be insane to take (And I think they know that). But the Wild. The Wild are deep(ish?) in young prospects, and seeing as the Jackets are rebuilding now, I'd say some of those young guys could be tempting for them. And there's always that #7 draft pick this year as well. I'd think any deal for Nash would include that, Which I would be fine with personally. However, the price would be heavy for Nash, who else would we have to part with for him? Seto? Young D-man? Hacket? And then the NTC gets in the way, but I think if he knew that Finish Jesus was coming over next year, he could be swayed.
Thoughts? Or should I Just go crawl back into my hole?
