What does a team with Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Logan Coture, Martin Havlat, Joe Pavelski, Ryan Clowe, Dan Boyle, and Brent Burns need? Well, for one, the ability to show their mettle in the playoffs, but that can't be had in the draft. What position do they need help with? Goalie is their only position where a strong argument could be made.
There is a goalie available, but are the Sharks ready to go that direction with so much other talent available? Drafting a goalie in the first round is a serious commitment, and one that may never pan out. And who says there isn't a better solution somewhere else?
These are the issues you deal with as the GM. Time to choose for the San Jose Sharks.
