I am sure everyone else reading the blog and all the other Wild coverage is as pumped as I am for this season, I mean there is no need to rehash what we did weeks ago, but I cannot help myself. This season should be awesome for all of us, for all of us waiting to taste sweet victory. However, my main concern is the "fall" or the let-down that can come with high expectations for sports teams that didn't previously have them. I guess the most recent example is the Miami Marlins. They built a new stadium, spent a ton of money, and set themselves up for huge success, or so they thought. To anyone watching baseball, their struggles have been well publicized and they even traded their superstar Hanley Ramirez. My obvious concern is what might happen with the Wild. Adding Zach Parise and Ryan Suter sure will help with putting goals on the scoreboard and keeping them out of our own net, but will the pressure effect them?
I do not believe so, at least my pre-season enthusiasm does not, but we have to be sure to stick by these guys no matter what! Hockey is a brutal game with injuries and losing someone, maybe not even one of the big guns, could have a large effect on the season and team. Even the non-glamour players matter, role players sounds like a negative term, but it is not, those are players with a specific role! Anyway, when we throw on our uniforms this fall we need to know that a slow start, injuries, or a lack of chemistry is not out of the realm of possibility and may set us back a year. Here's to the bright future and my slim doubts not becoming reality.
Also, I was wondering if there is anyone out there who plays hockey? I am trying to emulate my new favorite Wild player, Zach Parise, by getting a similar or the same stick and gloves as him. I was looking around the web and reading some hockey reviews, but I cannot find what I am looking for. It is easy to see the gear he sported in New Jersey, but is there any leads on his Wild attire? Probably a silly question before preseason or the regular season even starts, but maybe someone out there could help me out?
