Well ladies and gentleman, the Minnesota Wild have done what no thought they could ever do. They won a game.
Wait, you mean people actually said that they would win, and that all the stats showed that they would win a game? BLASPHAMY.
Matt Cooke scores the game winning goal, and managed to get his first multi-point game in a Wild sweater. Jonas Brodin scored the first goal of the game, which is his second goal of the season. The kid may have found some offense to go with his defense.
Nino Neiderreiter looked fantastic on the top line tonight. Mikael Granlund had a really great night as well. I personally would love to see a Granlund/Coyle/Nino line in any combination once Charlie Coyle returns from IR.
Speaking of Coyle, I ran in to him in the pressbox tonight. He seemed in really good spirits, and I didn't notice a limp or anything on him. Hopefully that means he'll be out closer to 3 weeks than 4.
Mathew Dumba had a great game as well. Most people know, but the fact that fans aren't noticing him on the ice much really is a testament to how well he plays. He's a young defenseman, and 9 times out of 10 them make major mistakes in the NHL. I mentioned it on twitter, but I really don't see him going back to Red Deer this year.
As for the negatives, the power play wasn't great (but over the course of the season so far it's been very good), and the Wild managed to get on another 5-3. They really need to learn to be more disciplined when they are already on the PK.
Dany Heatley had another rough night. For a guy who had such a great camp, and looked a million times better than he did last season, he is actually playing worse than he did last season. Who would have thought that was possible.
Wild are back in action Saturday night against Dallas. Make sure to check back tomorrow and get some more game recaps.
