Noon Number for 10-28-2013: 5

Backstrom: Sorry, I'm not going to let you get anything past me. - Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Spor

Hello, Wilderness!

I'll be filling in for Ger today for the number since yesterday he told me he would be busy.

You'll see the number from him in my spot tomorrow.

Today's number is 5, which is the number of goals that your Wild scored in their triumph over the mighty Blackhawks this past Saturday.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold the phone! 5 goals against the Blackhawks??!!

Yup, you heard me right. Five. Amazing. Goals.

The burning question many of you may have right now is "Where was this ability to score before?"

I'll answer that for you right now.

In the early part of this season, the Wild came out strong, dominating in puck possession. But, this unfortunately didn't lead to wins because they didn't score enough goals to justify their dominance over the opposition.

This has all changed now, and in turn it has given the Wild a win in their last 3 games. Another interesting thing to note over these last 3 games is the number of goals that they scored in each of them.

Let's go back to their game last Tuesday against the Predators. In that game, they scored just 2 goals (but got a shutout win). Moving forward to their next game last Thursday against the Hurricanes, they scored just one more goal than their game that Tuesday. Moving on to their most recent game they played against the Blackhawks, they scored a whopping 5 goals.

Interestingly enough though, their games last Thursday and this past Saturday were their first games where they were outshot. Despite that, they managed to come out with the W in both of those situations.

We're going streaking!!!!!!!
