Wilderness Walk 10-6-2013: Another Game, Another Point Edition

Hannah Foslien

Your Minnesota Wild managed to weather a storm early and get a point at home against the Anaheim Ducks.

Another game, another point, this is the theme of our very short season. The Wild looked impressive again in-game 2 of the season but once again came up short of this elusive 2nd point we have heard so much about. Matt Dumba also made his NHL debut last night and wasn't someone I noticed stand out too much, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing for a defensemen.

All told, I think you have to like what you have seen out of this squad so far. They were down 3-1 at a point in this game and came back, Zach Parise was an absolute work-horse last night, Kyle Brodziak has been a stud in both games and even the 4th line and Zenon Konopka (when not fighting) was playing some good hockey last night.

The Wild's next opportunity to get a point (or two, maybe) comes this Tuesday in Nashville against the Predators. We will get our first look at former Wild forward Matt Cullen in a Predators uniform and Ryan Suter will be boo'ed.

Russo's recap ... I probably would have just copy and pasted Thursdays recap, then removed the part about the shootout.

Jason Pominville: Did The Minnesota Wild Overpay Him In New Deal?
I think the headline here is more for shock value, Randy Holt doesn't really dis the deal, and I half expected to leave this article pissed.

P.J.R.: In Minnesota, hockey fans win the prize for pomposity - Minnesota Wild news | 1500 ESPN Twin Cities
Oh Reusse, you just don't get it (HA!). Are we seriously supposed to be proud of you for calling on the Kings to win the 2012 Stanley Cup before the playoffs, piggy backing on Russo's pre-season call in 2012 that the Kings would win? Way to make such a bold claim...

I see what you're saying, but the whole idea of the shootout is just so stupid to me at this point I really don't care what the shooter does anymore.

Don Cherry backs Patrick Roy's outburst, says it was a good thing - The Hockey News
Yea, Don Cherry says a lot of things that are pretty stupid. Like Roy's freak out or not, going back for seconds on the glass that was clearly ready to drop on top of Boudreau is not a smart decision. Anybody else smile every time they see Roy though? I can't get Bruno's goal out of my head!
