Wilderness Walk: The Weekend Before Christmas Edition

Justin K. Aller

After working through some annoying little SBNation site connection timeout issues, I was just able to get today's walk actually posted on time. You're welcome for me having to deal with that, Wilderness.

Hello, Wilderness!

Did any of you miss me whilst I took a little break from HW whilst getting ready for my other 2 finals?

Of course you did, but now I'm back (at least for this weekend, as I will be heading to warm and sunny Jamaica for a week the day after Christmas!)

How's everyone doing on this 2nd last Saturday of the month and year?

I'm doing great, as myself and all of you know that Christmas is only 4 days away from now!

Besides getting excited for Christmas, you all should be getting excited for some more Wild hockey that will be coming up tomorrow (and Monday), because those will be the only other games the Wild play this month besides their ones after Christmas.

In the meantime, how about we take a walk?

Wild News

Yeo puts Wild through extra-long practice after ugly loss | Star Tribune - Good. The Wild sure need it after that ugly loss to the Penguins on Thursday.

Minnesota Wild Reassign Brett Bulmer, Mikael Granlund Return Imminent? - Gone Puck Wild - One can only hope, right? I've really missed seeing him play. Heck, the last time I got to see him play was our game at home against the Maple Leafs where that scumbag Kadri hit him hard into the boards.

Mikael Granlund not yet cleared to return; Brett Bulmer back to Iowa; Goalie swap expected Saturday | Russo's Rants | StarTribune.com - Here's Russo's take on the recent Wild happenings.

Tending the Fields

Darcy Kuemper stopped 44 shots as the Iowa Wild shutout the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-0 - Nanaimo Daily News - Backstrom, you should take some pages out of Kumeper's book. Granted, he's playing in a league lower than Backy, but still, Kuemper's proving that he knows how to play. Backstrom once had that fire, but he's now somehow lost it. As good as Kuemper has been with the baby Wild I still don't think he's quite ready to take on the challenges of the NHL yet though...

Off the Trail

NHL Scoring Leaders - Times Union - Here are the top scorers in the NHL as of right now. Not too many surprises here, as you have the usual suspects such as Crosby, Kane, Malkin; you get the idea...

Martin Jones leads L.A. Kings past Sharks 4-1 - USA Today - Martin Jones made 31 saves in his seventh consecutive win to begin his NHL career, and fellow rookie Tyler Toffoli had a goal and an assist in the Los Angeles Kings' 4-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

Capitals use power play, Ovechkin’s milestone to beat Hurricanes - Sports Home - The Times News - The Washington Capitals scored three second-period, power-play goals before Alex Ovechkin's milestone tally in defeating the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night at PNC arena.
