Congratulations, your number 1!!!! - USA TODAY Sports
After a nice 3 - 1 victory against the Canucks last night, your Minnesota Wild wake up this morning in sole possession of 1st place in the Northwest Division.
Good morning Wildeness, and my oh my isn't it just a lovely morning indeed? Your Minnesota Wild rolled into Rogers Arena last night riding 2 wins in a row against the Avalanche to square off against the Vancouver Canucks in a winner take all duel over 1st place in the Northwest Division. The Wild would be victorious, and turn 2 in a row, into a winning streak. For the first time this season the Wild have managed to string together 3 consecutive wins, 2 of which on the road.
After sputtering out of the gate to start the season, managing to score more than 1 goal/game 5 times in the first 10 games, you wild have turned it all around and have marked 15 of the last 18 games with 2 or more goals. Ryan Suter is quietly mumbling something about a Norris, Jonas Brodin is making his bid for the Calder, and even the struggling Pierre-Marc Bouchard has seemed to find his game as of late being (gulp) productive on the ice.
At any rate, Your Minnesota Wild sit on top of the Northwest Division, 2 points ahead of Vancouver and 4 points ahead of the Edmonton Oilers. The Wild sit 3rd in the Western Conference as a result of their lead in the Division, but are also tied in points with LA and St. Louis who are currently holding down the 4th and 5th playoff spots respectively. In the Conference, just 4 points separate 3rd place from 9th. We have a little cushion, but nothing to get cozy with.
We find the Wild next strolling into Michigan to square off against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday. A quick turn around to our next game means we should be still perched up in 3rd by the time we hit the ice again.
