NHL Realignment Approved

Stay connected for news and updates

The future looks bright. - Jonathan Daniel

The NHL & NHLPA have agreed to realignment for next season, with a re-evaluation for the 2014-15 season.

See ya later old nerds and the majority of late night starts, the Wild are moving out and leaving the ridiculousness of the current NHL alignment for the green pastures of the central time zone.

The NHL and NHLPA have agreed to realignment for next season, and to reevaluate for the following season. Why the revaluation, who knows, but hey... why not, right? For now according to multiple reports, the Wild will join a division with the Winnipeg Jets, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues, and Nashville Predators.

This will reignite some geographic rivalries of the past, should the teams be locked in playoff races and battle in the playoffs. Right off the bat, it will mean the Wild need to find a way to get up to speed with the Hawks, and leave behind the days of easy points against AHL teams in their division.

It really is too bad that the Wild will not have the free points from playing the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames going forward, but that's the price you pay for better TV ratings and rebuilding the old Norris Division.

If realignment in the proposed manner sticks around, it will be great to see games against the Blues, Hawks, and Jets build bitterness among the fan bases and spark "healthy conversation" with sites like Second City Hockey and St. Louis Game Time.

It will be fun to have a new group of nerds to deal with, especially since we will all be on the same time standard.

What do you think Wilderness? Are you in love with this, or do you hate it?
