Wild v. Kings: Post game party

Marilyn Indahl-US PRESSWIRE

Wild win and grab the 2pts. Playoffs are looking gooooood

The game tonight was exactly what Wild fans needed. Not only were scorns of fans falling off the deep end into the abyss over the team's performance lately, but the added pressure of not yet qualifying for the playoffs had some fans going absolutely crazy.

The Wild managed to pull out a win and 2 huge points in tonight's game against the Kings. Not only were the points a huge positive tonight, but the type of game that the Wild played was leaps and bounds above what they played in their last two games.

There was constant energy, the team consistently pushed against the Kings defense and won. The Kings didn't get many great shots in, and while there was a bit of the typical Wild panic towards the end of the 3rd, the team managed to hold on to the lead.

Charlie Coyle netted his 8th goal of the year off of a brilliant saucer pass from Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu. Cal Clutterbuck got his 4 goal of the year, with assists going to Devin Setoguchi and Jonas Brodin.

Speaking of Brodin, what a game for him. He played just shy of 30 minutes tonight and was a constant force to be reckoned with tonight. #brodinforcalder. Look for a bit more of a feature piece on him and a Ryan Suter later this week.

Jason Pominville took a nasty hit to the head by Dustin Brown's elbow in the 2nd period and did not return to the game. When Yeo was asked about it, he said he has no injury report yet and that "You hate to see a hit to the head." There were a lot of unhappy people in the press box after that hit, and honestly it doesn't look very good. But we will give you an update once we have it.

Niklas Backstorm is back to being tied for 1st in NHL wins after tonight win. After the game he told the media he feels great and loves being able to come and play as much as he has been.

Josh Harding made his first appearance on the bench in months. He looked so happy to be back on the bench. I got a text message from a friend after the game saying that while he loved the win, seeing Harding on the bench and looking so good made his night.

5 Questions

1. Will the Wild continue their streak of playing "hot" goalies? Nope. No hot goalies tonight.

2. Clutterbuck has bben placed on the second line. Does he quiet his nay-sayers by setting up some sweet goals for his line-mates? He didn't even have to set anyone up. He showed he can do it all by himself thank you very much.

3. The leadership in the locker room decided to make Monday's optional skate not so optional. Does it improve their performance? This was one of the best games I've had the pleasure of viewing. As much as I dislike the kings, this would be a great playoff series.

4. The Wild looked life-less for most of the game on Sunday. Does this change? They were breathing life into the fan base. Everyone was having heart attacks from massive energy overload.

5. (obligatory) Does Ryan Suter have another 30 minute game tonight? Yes he did, and Brodin was only 38 seconds from joining him
