I had a thought about PDO today. I am very new to this #FancyStat stuff, so forgive me if I'm wrong (or don't- your call).
I believe PDO is thought of as a measure of 'puck luck' type situations- a team is performing better than their possession stats indicate they ought to.
What if, instead, it is a measure of teams that outperform other teams but lose (Wild PDO>>1.0)
Maybe this has already been thought of before, and maybe it is completely wrong, but is there any possible traction here? Might this change the way we view this particular #FancyStat ?
Last question (probably)- is there a measure out there of how certain players being on or off the ice affects their team PDO? A kind of "RelPDO" if you will? Might that be something we look into? Is that even possible? Why are there so many questions here?
Thanks all, and Let's
