What would the Wild have done?

With many writers expressing there sour opinion on the long term big money contracts of Parise and Suter.I began to think about what the Wild would look like today had the signings not been had. While I do agree with the signings jump starting the franchise it intrigues me to think of what the Wild would look like had they taken the drafting path like Chicago or Colorado. We will start back in the years where Dany Heatly was one of our best players. The year where the Wild proved advanced statistics wrong for half the season. Then came a Leaf like collapse. The Wild proceeded to limp into the off season with injuries and losses everywhere. The draft came along and drafted Matt Dumba ahead of home town boy Jacob Trouba.Who now looks to be one of the best players to be taken in that draft class.Dumba does still look to be good he just needs to be better without the puck. The Wild have now one of the best prospect pools in the league at this point with Granlund,Coyle and Zucker looking like they are ready for there Rookie season next year without the signings of Suter and Parise all the pressure will be placed on them.Grandlund especially who's arrival in Minnesota was long anticipated by Wild fans. The next year with out Suter and Brodin the Wild would have finished just as bad as the Avalanche. If the Wild had a top 3 pick going to the draft of 2013 I think they would have drafted Jonathan Drouin. The Wild would leave him in juniors for one more year. The next few years the Wild would continue to get elite talent in the draft maybe even generational talent with Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel entering the draft the Wild would become one of the best teams in the league in the span of 3 years from 2012-2015 the Wild would finish there rebuild. The lines would look like this in 2016.

Drouin Koivu Coyle

Niederreiter Grandlund Eichel

Zucker Haula Fontaine

Cooke Brodziak Bulmer

Brodin Spurgen

Scandella Dumba

Folin Blum
