Maybe you have seen this already floating around the interwebz, but yes, Mikael Granlund has his own stamp in Finland. As you can see, the image is of his lacrosse goal scored in the world championships. Anyone still curious about why he is staying in Finland for another year? They gave him a freaking stamp, people. Note: FinnPryde has an article about it in the Fanshots on the right column. Hat tip to Russo for pointing this out this AM, and to @Amateur_Hockey for the image.
Mikael Granlund's lacrosse goal shocks the Russians. Still waiting for the video, and it'll totally be worth it. via yle.fi
I normally blog about the Caps at Japers' Rink, but I see that the Wild signed Joel Broda to a 3-year ELC today and wanted to send along my congrats. I blogged about his last season and playoffs with the Calgary Hitmen (since he was a Caps prospect), and I think you got yourselves a real good hockey player. Here's an article about him during the Hitmen's run to the WHL championship: "Broda Embraces Villain Role" Congrats again, and I hope he has a great career!
h/t to Second City Hockey, I see this photoshop never made it to Hockey Wilderness, but definitely thought it was excellent. (additional h/t to my Blackhawks fan friend whom sent me the link) "Jesus Havlat Christ"
Per Michael Russo: "We all thought by making Mikko Koivu and Andrew Brunette alternate A’s yesterday that it cancelled them out from being captain the first month. Wrong. During a pretty cool on-ice ceremony, owner Craig Leipold awarded the captaincy to Mikko Koivu." Andrew Brunette and Mikko Koivu were also named permanent alternate captains.
