Wild Lose Final Prospects Game

The Minnesota Wild Prospects finished up the NHL Centre I.C.E. Prospects Tournament losing the third place game. The Wild lost to the Atlanta Thrashers 3-1 on Tuesday night due mostly to bad luck. The Wild controlled play by outshooting Atlanta 36-19, but the Thrashers got two lucky goals. Minnesota Wild Assistant General Manager Tom Thompson said that:

"Shots through traffic were ricocheting into the net...It wasn’t because of Atlanta’s pressure, we had good coverage. All of the sudden [Atlanta] would take a shot and the puck went in."

Since this MN Wild Freak was unable to be in Michigan to see the games, we will have to take Mr. Thompson’s word for it. Hockey can be as much about luck as it is about skill sometimes and this just wasn’t the Wild’s game. Benoit Pouliot scored the lone goal for the Wild.
