Making this post each week is a fun little project. Checking in with each of the former players, seeing if they are contributing, having success, or just out there in the ether. Right now, most of the guys are at least contributing to their teams. The few that aren't? No one expected them to anyway.
With the Wild rolling a bit, maybe you just don't care enough about these guys anymore. Try to imagine how the team would look swapping out one or two of these guys with their replacements. Would anything change? Would you be having more fun or less?
Only the Shadow knows.
After the jump, a peak at how each of the players are doing.
Brent Burns
Continuing to tear it up in teal, Brent Burns continues to build the monumental task that Charlie Coyle, Zack Phillips, and Devin Setoguchi have in front of them. It is hard to imagine that Burns would have suffered in Yeo's new system. Just keep repeating to yourself... It will all be worth it, it will all be worth it...
Martin Havlat
Ooooo doggy. Seven assists in seven games? Can't wait to hear about this one.
Cam Barker
Two words: Ha ha. Edmonton may be on a tear right now, but it isn't due to Cam Barker. Still on the PP, still with just one point. Ouch.
Antti Miettinen
Yeah. Seven points. Seventeen games. In the KHL. Enough said.
Andrew Brunette
The scoring fury has calmed a bit, but Brunette continues to contribute almost daily. He has quickly become a favorite with fans (shocking, right?) and is playing his game. The Hawks are off to a slow start, and once their big guns start firing, Bruno will be ready for them.
Chuck Kobasew
Oh man. I may have been too excited for Havlat's seven assists. The three points from Kobasew is clearly what we should be missing, right? Right. Moving on.
James Sheppard
Listed on the Sharks injured reserve after the second knee surgery this summer, Sheppard is not currently skating.
Eric Nystrom
Nystrom has found a role with the Stars. Last night, he had some PP time and everything. He is playing well, has a regular spot in the lineup, and the Stars are off to an amazing start. Good on ya, sir.
Jose Theodore
Back in action after a minor injury, Theodore is continuing where he left off. He's having a pretty good year, and that is exactly what the Panthers need from him. Glad to see him having some success.
What it All Means
This one's on you, Wilderness... what does it mean? Happy to see these guys doing well? Ticked that any of them are gone? What is your take on the former players?
