Wilderness Walk for 10-10-2012: Happy Opening Day!

Your daily links and bitterness.

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Happy opening day, hockey fans. Yes, today, there would have been games on your TVs, fans in the stands, players on the ice. Of course, the Wild would not have started yet, which means only a few of us would have been watching. None of that matters, though, as the lockout has claimed its victims, and nothing is going to change. Good times.

For those who noticed, we didn't have a Walk for a few days. True story. There were internet issues, and blah blah blah. Figured maybe I would come back to hundreds of links to share. Not a chance. Barely anything to read, anything to share. More good times to be had.

We will do our best to prevent outages like this, but the unicorns have a way of doing what they want. Enjoy your links.

Tending the Fields

First Round Bust: Why Mikael Granlund WON'T Fail: A Rebuttal - An answer to Dan's post about why Granlund will fail.

Granlund scores 4, Coyle 2 in Aeros' preseason win | StarTribune.com - So... the kid's pretty good.

First Round Bust: 2012 Minnesota Wild Prospects: #4 - Mathew Dumba - This kid looks pretty good, too.

The Third Intermission: Aeros 1 for 3 in pre-season - They'll figure it out. No doubt in my mind.

Off the Trail

NHL lockout: Donald Fehr says a longer work stoppage could lead to unrest over salary cap - thestar.com - Awesome. Just... awesome.

Brad Marchand better than Tyler Seguin? Chewing on ESPN’s top 25 NHL players under 25 | Puck Daddy - Yahoo! Sports - The whole list flops around 7.

Good stuff from the Blue Jackets. If only the team on the ice was anywhere near as entertaining. Big props to the franchise for this, though. Shows a creativity more teams should have.
