Another week, another stock report. Last week, we found out that some people just don't like the stock market very much. I mean, who can blame them? What with the volatility of the Middle East, the financial mess in Greece, the European Union's issues of trying to assimilate multiple economic models into one currency system, and a US consumer that refuses to believe the economy is safe... the issues at hand just aren't fun to deal with.

The thought must be that with all of the market economy madness to deal with on a daily, weekly, and quarterly basis, that a market designed around a cheesy look at hockey players in terms of fan investment is just too mcuh to handle. Maybe next week we can introduce some market forces. Anyone up for incorporating the Parise Possiblity Points system, or the Reynolds & Landry economic forecast model? The Eide Standard?

We could draw bad analogies all day. For now, we'll stop. Read up. Invest wisely.

Strong Buy - Feel free to invest heavily with your fan dollars. This player will deliver every time.
Buy - Getting results, safe bet to invest your fandom in. Will disappoint rarely.
Hold - The results aren't there, but it isn't time to give up yet. Buying or selling equally acceptable.
Sell - Time to seriously consider your investment decision. Results consistently not there, and the trend is they will not be there.
Strong Sell - The lowest of rankings. Time to get out, and get out now, before your investment is totally worthless.

Note: The analysis will change from week to week, and are not equal from player to player. It's just our thing.

Blue Chips

Dany Heatley (HETR) - The guys is as snake bitten as the Crocadile Hunter. The problem is, he is also about as productive. The good news is, he is still out there, and he is still battling. No reason to think he isn't worth the investment, but no reason to overly buy in, either. Rating: Hold Last Week: Hold

Devin Setoguchi (GUCH) - Off and on. Hot and cold. If it could be predicted when each was going to happen, some day trading could be in store. Right now, way to volatile to invest in. Rating: Sell Last Week: Hold

Tom Gilbert (GRPE) - The credibility rating here seems to be low, but Gilbert's play is just not up to par. He creates little offense, and his defense is just not good enough. But his Corsi was just so fantastic in Edmonton, they all loved him. Whatever. Get out if you bought in. Rating: Strong Sell Last Week: Sell

Dividend Stocks

Matt Cullen (TWI) - In the same boat as Heatley. May be past the top of the hill, but can still bring it. The finishing seems to be the hard part. Rating: Hold Last Week: Buy

Kyle Brodziak (GLUE) - A three point game against the Canes, but still playing outside his role. Take it for what it is. He is good at playing up, but he is still playing up. Rating: Hold Last Week: Hold

Darroll Powe (POW) - He has been fairly invisible, save for creating a couple chances along with Clutterbuck. It's tough to get a read when he is playing with AHLers, but something seems to have slipped here. Rating: Sell Last Week: Sell

Josh Harding (BKUP) - Hurt, but still on the bench. He's a trooper to be sure. His future took a huge number of hits this season, and that's really too bad. Hopefully the guy can catch a break at some point. Rating: Sell Last Week: Sell

Stephane Veilleux (RED) - Need someone to stir the pot? You got him. It's unlikely he is back with the Wild after this season, but he has come back from bigger than that, so don't count him out. Rating: Hold Last Week: Buy

Erik Christensen (NVIS) - Huge week. We are nowhere near ready to buy in, but he has certainly shown how he got to the NHL. Rating: Hold Last Week: Strong Sell

Cal Clutterbuck (HIT) - He's hitting, but the mixture just isn't right. We're going to put him at a hold, though no fault of his own. Rating: Hold Last Week: Hold

Futures Market

Nick Palmieri (DRVE) - Invisible this week. He is starting to simply blend in with a group of players that just can't get it done. Would be curious to see how he plays next to a guy like Koivu. Rating: Buy Last Week: Buy

Jared Spurgeon (TINY) - Time to shift focus here. Spurgeon is no longer an offensive d-man. He is a defensive d-man, and he is pretty good at it. Rating: Hold Last Week: Hold

Nick Johnson (BWCE) - Scratched, and responded with a good game against Carolina. This is definitely a case of a player playing down to match his team, rather than playing up to motivate them. Would have been a sell if he hadn't scored. Rating: Hold Last Week: Hold

Matt Kassian (SHIN) - Quiet this week. Needs to keep himself relevant, or he becomes massively replaceable. Rating: Hold Last Week: Buy

Nate Prosser (STIF) - The play here has been disappointing, but the talent level is there. Sticking up for Dany Heatley was nice to see. Rating: Hold Last Week: Sell

Warren Peters (FIX) - You gotta love a guy earning his way into an NHL cup of coffee, but Peters is clearly over matched by even the slightest of NHL talent. Wholly unimpressive. Rating: Strong Sell Last Week: Strong Sell

Marco Scandella (PZZA) - Not the same guy since coming back. Really needs to find his game, or he's just not a safe bet. Rating: Sell Last Week: Sell

Matt Hackett (HACK) - Much better. Time with Bob Mason is doing him some good. He has the ability, now he just needs the time. His team certainly isn't helping him much. Rating: Buy Last Week: Hold

Jed Ortmeyer (ORTS) - Meh. See Warren Peters. It's all just so... meh. Rating: Sell Last Week: Sell

Steven Kampfer (MOVER) - He's been good. Not great, but good. Certainly not the worst player on the ice. Would like to see a bit more hunger for the net, though. Rating: Hold Last Week: Hold

Clayton Stoner (STDY) - Back, and in beast mode. He is playing physical and big. Defense is not perfect, but it's solid. No need to shy away, but maintain a small buy in only. The risk is still there. Rating: Buy Last Week: Hold

Medical Ward

Guillaume Latendresse (BTE) - Still out. Sounds like he won't be back. Not even with the team. Meh. Rating: Sell

Pierre-Marc Bouchard (BALD) - Out. Likely for the season and beyond. Rating: Hold.

Mikko Koivu (KAPT) - Cleared for contact, but not yet back. In our opinion, shouldn't be back this season. Rating: Hold

Niklas Backstrom (BAX) - Back in practice, but... why? Rating: Hold

Justin Falk (FLKR) - Missed the Phoenix game with a leg injury. Rating: Hold

Mike Lundin (WHO) - Someday, if you have the chance to spend $1 million bucks and get nothing in return, give me a call. I can sit on a couch like no one else. Rating: Sell Last Week: Sell

Kurtis Foster (FZZY) - Still out. But at least he is around. Rating: Hold Last Week: Hold

Temporarily Off the Market

Carson McMillan (JHNY) - Sent back to make room for Veilleux. Rating: Hold

Kris Foucault (FOUCS) - Came up, played, went back. Nothing to see here. Rating: Hold

Jarod Palmer (HOPE) - Back on the ice, and doing well. Rating: Buy

Chad Rau (CAKE) - Back in Houston. Rating: Hold.

David McIntyre (IMAC) - Came up, scored a bit, went back. That alone was worth trading away Maxim Noreau.Rating: Hold

Jon DiSalvatore (AERO) - Up for a gme, then back to Houston. Thanks for stopping by. Rating: Hold

Jeff Taffe (GOPH) - Great few games for Taffe. He'll be back. Rating: Buy

Paul Deutsch (FREE) - You gotta love the story. A 51 year old small business owner gets inked for a one day deal to serve as an emergency backup until Matt Hackett can get to St. Paul. He didn't make it into a game, but the story alone is worth a million bucks, easy. #FreeDeutsch Rating: Strong Buy

Kris Fredheim (PUPY) - Sent back to Houston, but certainly proved himself a capable replacement should the Wild need him. Rating: Hold

Brett Bulmer (JR) - Sent back to play against children, we're not sure what Chuck Fletcher was thinking here, but it is what it is. We're keeping the kid as a strong buy. Can't wait to see him back. Rating: Strong Buy

Cody Almond (JOY) - Unimpressive in his stint with the Wild. Hate to say it, but it may almost be time for him to move on. Rating: Sell

Marek Zidlicky (ZHID) - He's gone. Nothing much else to say. Rating: Sold

Nick Schultz (MO) - The folks in Edmonton hate him. In related news, people in Edmonton need lessons in what good hockey players look like. Rating: Sold

Greg Zanon (BLK) - Boston's problem now. Rating: Sold

Brad Staubitz (BTZY) - Placed on waivers, unclaimed by 29 teams, and sent to Houston. We hate to say we told you so, but... Rating: Sold

Casey Wellman (CLGE) Traded to the Rangers. How that trade has worked out is unknown. Fair thee well, Mr. Wellman. Rating: Sold

Colton Gillies (MBDY) - Enjoy Columbus, good sir. Rating: Sold
